Detailed Results Five nights after defeating Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania, SmackDown kicks off with John Cena. Cena says that it has been a tiring week and, even though Bray Wyatt tried to turn a “man” into a “monster”, but failed at WrestleMania. Cena then says that the “future” is now because there are so many promising Superstars coming up in the WWE, saying that he is the “measuring stick” in the WWE. Cena continues, saying that if any Superstar wants to plant their feet at the top of the WWE, they will have to go through him to do it. Cena is then interrupted with a message from The Wyatt Family as, on the Tron, Bray Wyatt says that they should all embrace their “differences”, saying that, even though he lost to John Cena at WrestleMania, then why is he so “happy”. Bray continues, saying that his mind is “endless” and he is “free” and he will have to go to “new extremes”, telling Cena that it is “far from over”. After his superhuman feat of suplexing Big Show over the top rope at WrestleMania to win the inaugural Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, the opening match of the night would see “The King of Swing” Cesaro, with his new manager and advocate Paul Heyman a guest on commentary, going one-on-one with “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show. During the match, Jack Swagger would run in and lock the Patriot Lock on Cesaro, resulting in the disqualification. After the match, Big Show shoves Swagger to the outside before Cesaro delivers a huge European Uppercut from the middle rope before pulling off the Herculean feat of planting “The World’s Largest Athlete” with the Neutralizer! After both teams failed to capture the WWE Tag Team Titles from The Usos in the Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match on the WrestleMania Pre-Show, Los Matadores, with El Torito in their corner, would face Rybaxel on SmackDown. In the end, it was Curtis Axel hitting the Axel Cutter on Diego, pinning Diego to pick up the win for Rybaxel. In a rematch from Monday’s RAW, the returning Rob Van Dam would be in action on SmackDown, going one-on-one with Damien Sandow. In the end, it was Rob Van Dam scoring with the Five-Star Frog Splash, pinning Damien Sandow for the win. For the first time since making his grand return to WrestleMania as the Host of WrestleMania XXX, where he shared the ring with The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin for the first time ever, WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan would make a special appearance on SmackDown. Hogan says that, when Daniel Bryan won the WWE World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania, Bryan turned WrestleMania into “YestleMania”. The Hall of Famer then introduces the brand new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Bryan, who makes his way to the ring as “The Hulkster” leads a “yes” chant. The new champion says that this has been the greatest week of his life, saying that he is getting married and he is the brand new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Bryan then says that, now, he is in the ring with “The Immortal” Hulk Hogan, saying that he is just an “average guy” and, to him, the biggest Superstar in the world was Hulk Hogan. Bryan continues, saying that he said his “prayers” every night as a kid in the hopes of being in the main event of WrestleMania, saying he has been a Hulkamaniac for as long as he can remember. The champion then says that there is one thing that he has always wanted to see live in the ring and that is Hogan to do his signature taunts. The Hall of Famer then does his legendary pose-down, asking Daniel Bryan to join in. SmackDown would be the recipient of some “bad news” as Bad News Barrett would go one-on-one with Kofi Kingston. In the end, it was Bad News Barrett blasting Kofi Kingston with the Bull Hammer Elbow, pinning Kofi for the win. With his new dance partner, Layla, in his corner, Fandango would go one-on-one with Santino Marella, with Emma in his corner. In the end, it was a distraction from Layla that would allow Fandango to catch Santino Marella with a roll-up to pick up the win. Then it was time for the main event as new WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan would team with WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos to face Director of Operations Kane, “The Animal” Batista, & “The Viper” Randy Orton in a 6-Man Tag match. The wild match would break down into absolute chaos on the outside of the ring, forcing the referee to throw the match out. In the ring, it was Batista & Randy Orton isolating The Usos as Randy Orton hits one of the Usos with the RKO as Batista hits the other with the Batista Bomb. Meanwhile, on the outside of the ring, Kane would dismantle the announce table, ready to send Daniel Bryan through the table, but The Shield would intervene, beating Kane down before getting in the ring, ready to do battle with Batista & Randy Orton. However, Batista & Orton would slide out of the ring, escaping The Shield. Kane would then try to catch The Shield from behind with a steel chair, but Daniel Bryan would hit the running knee on Kane. The Shield then hoists Kane up, delivering the three-man powerbomb to the Director of Operations! Daniel Bryan & The Shield then stand tall in the ring, promising that Batista & Randy Orton will suffer the same fate. What did you think of this week’s SmackDown? Post your comments in the box below.
