WWE RAW Results: April 28, 2014By Cassidy| April 29, 2014 WWE Raw The Shield Evolved. Six nights before Extreme Rules, the 1092nd edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the Scottrade Center in the hometown of “The Viper” Randy Orton, St. Louis, MO. Last week, the re-unleashing of “The Devil’s Favorite Demon” at the hands of Stephanie McMahon nearly resulted in the end of a career as Kane returned to his demonic glory, assaulting WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan and drilling his former tag team partner with three Tombstone Piledrivers, one of the arena floor, one on the steel steps, and one on the announce table! Fortunately for the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, he avoided any serious injuries and has vowed to be on RAW tonight! However, another person who vows to be on RAW tonight is WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon who has said that she will be on RAW to “apologize” to Daniel Bryan. With many fans doubting the sincerity of Stephanie McMahon, will the Principal Owner give a heart-felt apology on RAW or will her presence prompt another assault on Daniel Bryan? Two weeks ago on RAW, the master plan of Triple H came together as “The Game” reunited with Batista and Randy Orton to reform Evolution, one of the most successful groups in WWE history. With Evolution’s sights set on destroying The Shield this Sunday at Extreme Rules, Triple H broke the news himself via Twitter that RAW will feature a special appearance by the fourth member of the original Evolution in WWE Hall of Famer “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair! What will the 16-time World Champion have to say? Will Ric Flair align himself with Evolution once again? In a tournament that started with eight Superstars, only two remain as RAW will see “Mr. Monday Night” and six-time former Intercontinental Champion Rob Van Dam square off with three-time former Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett in the Finals of the tournament to name a new #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title. The winner of this match will become the #1 Contender and will head to Extreme Rules where they will challenge Big E for the Intercontinental Championship! Over the last couple of weeks, RybAxel has seemingly had the number of The Usos and, on RAW, Ryback & Curtis Axel would get their shot at becoming the top tag team in the WWE when they challenge The Usos for the WWE Tag Team Championship! Also, after making a lasting impact on RAW back in 2011, Hugh Jackman would return to RAW as the Guest Star will be on hand to promote his new movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past. The last time the actor made an appearance on RAW, he jacked the jaw of Dolph Ziggler, but after trying to bury the hatchet with Jackman over Twitter, Dolph Ziggler’s attempts were interrupted by Damien Sandow. How will this Twitter war play out on RAW? Will Hugh Jackman get his hands dirty once again? Match Results WWE Tag Team Championship: The Usos (c) def. Detailed Results Six nights before he faces Bray Wyatt in a Steel Cage Match at Extreme Rules, a Steel Cage surrounds the ring as John Cena kicks off RAW. A visibly upset John Cena asks the fans why they voted him into a 3-on-1 Handicap Match against all three members of The Wyatt Family on last week’s RAW. Cena says that the fans were given the choice to give him a fair chance or put him up against insurmountable odds, saying that the fans overwhelmingly voted him into the 3-on-1 Handicap Match. Cena continues, saying that, nearly ten years ago right there in St. Louis, he was drafted to RAW. Cena says that “times have changed” and, good or bad, he has always put the WWE first and he cannot do this forever. Cena then says that he sees “greatness” when he looks at the guys in the WWE now and the talent coming up in NXT, saying that all of those up-and-comers have the same “passion” that he has. Cena continues, saying that Bray Wyatt’s passion is not the WWE, his passion is Bray Wyatt and, if Bray escapes the cage this Sunday, then he will continue to “manipulate”. Cena then says that, at some point, it is going to be Bray Wyatt vs. the world and the world will not stand a chance. Cena is then interrupted by a chorus of children standing on the stage, all singing “He’s got the Whole World in his Hands”! Once the song is complete, Bray Wyatt leads Luke Harper & Erick Rowan down the ramp, singing the same song. The Wyatt Family is then followed by the chorus of children as the children all surround the ring with sheep masks in their hands. Bray continues to sing the haunting tune and, once it concludes, Bray sits down and the lights go out and, when the lights come back on, every single child at ringside is wearing a sheep mask, which brings a look of distress and emotional unrest to the face of John Cena. With one of the masked children on his lap, Bray Wyatt laughs maniacally at John Cena. The opening match of the night would see gold put on the line as The Usos would defend the WWE Tag Team Titles against RybAxel on RAW. Despite Jey Uso injuring his leg early on in the match, The Usos would fight an uphill battle throughout the match, and in the end, it was Curtis Axel hitting the Perfect Plex on Jey Uso, but Jimmy Uso would come off the top rope with the Superfly Splash to a prone Axel, pinning Axel to pick up the win for himself and Jey Uso and successfully retain the WWE Tag Team Titles. Sheamus was scheduled to go one-on-one with Titus O’Neil on RAW, but Titus blind-sided “The Celtic Warrior” on the way to the ring, beating Sheamus down outside and inside the ring. Despite this, Sheamus would insist that the match begin and all it would take was one Brogue Kick to stop the onslaught of Titus O’Neil, pinning Titus to pick up the win. “The Show-Off” Dolph Ziggler appears on RAW, saying that he loves this time of the year as the weather gets a little warmer and superheroes are bountiful. Dolph then shows a trailer for the movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past. Ziggler then introduces one of the stars of the movie as the man behind the claws of Wolverine, Hugh Jackman, returns to Monday Night RAW. Jackman says that he has done some big things in his career, but RAW is one of the biggest and most exciting experiences out there. Dolph then reminds Hugh Jackman of what happened the last time he was on RAW, when Jackman jacked Dolph’s jaw. Dolph says that the world got a RAW moment out of his last appearance before Dolph shakes hands with Jackman. Damien Sandow then interrupts the proceedings dressed as Magneto, saying that there is finally someone with intelligence portraying a super villain. Jackman sarcastically compliments Sandow on his Magneto outfit before the Magneto impersonator tries to use his “magnetism” to pull Hugh Jackman’s microphone to his hand. While Jackman plays along for a moment, he ends up tossing the microphone at the chest of Damien Sandow and hitting a hip toss on Sandow, followed up by the Zig Zag by Dolph Ziggler. In a rematch from SmackDown, former tag team partners would face off as “The King of Swing” Cesaro, with Paul Heyman in his corner, would go one-on-one with Jack Swagger, with Zeb Colter in his corner. During the match, Zeb Colter would trip up Cesaro and this would spark a battle of managers as Paul Heyman attacks Zeb Colter, pulling on Colter’s mustache! This would draw the attention of Jack Swagger and Cesaro would capitalize with a bridging German Suplex, pinning Swagger to pick up the win. As the cracks continue to show in the partnership between Goldust & Cody Rhodes, Cody Rhodes, with Goldust in his corner, would go one-on-one with Alberto Del Rio on RAW. In the end, Alberto Del Rio would lock in the Cross Armbreaker on Cody Rhodes, forcing Cody to tap out. After the match, Cody Rhodes would refuse to let his brother help him, again shoving Goldust away. Alexander Rusev was in action on RAW as “The Bulgarian Brute”, with Lana in his corner, would go one-on-one with one of his two opponents at Extreme Rules, Xavier Woods. In the end, Alexander Rusev would set Xavier Woods up for the Accolade, but R-Truth would rush the ring, attacking Rusev. R-Truth & Xavier Woods would manage to take it to Alexander Rusev, knocking Rusev off of the apron and, at the order of Lana, would save the fight for Extreme Rules. Before the two team’s respective mascots face off in the first ever “WeeLC Match” on the Extreme Rules Pre-Show, Los Matadores, with El Torito in their corner, would face 3MB’s Heath Slater & Drew McIntyre, with Hornswoggle & Jinder Mahal in their corner. In the end, it was Heath Slater hitting a lifting DDT on one-half of Los Matadores, pinning Los Matador to pick up a rare win. After Kane nearly ended the career of Daniel Bryan on last week’s RAW, the woman behind the unleashing of “The Devil’s Favorite Demon”, Stephanie McMahon, would appear on RAW with the promise of an “apology” for Daniel Bryan. Stephanie would come to the ring first before asking Daniel Bryan to come out. Wearing a neck brace and flanked by his new wife, Brie Bella, Daniel Bryan comes out to the stage. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion says that he “almost believed” Stephanie when she told Kane to stop the assault last week, saying that they all know that the Principal Owner is “full of crap”. Stephanie says that she understands why Daniel Bryan would think that she is being disingenuous, saying that it’s no secret that The Authority did not want Daniel Bryan to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Stephanie says that their emotions ran a “little high” and Daniel Bryan fires back, asking Stephanie how she thinks his wife felt while Triple H & Stephanie did all the terrible things they did to him, saying that Brie stayed out of it out of respect for her husband and because she knew he could handle it on his own. Stephanie says that Daniel Bryan did do it on his own and stuck it to The Authority in the process. Stephanie then says that all she was trying to do was give her Director of Operations a “backbone” and give Bryan a worthy opponent. Stephanie then tells Brie that she knows what it is like to have to see her husband stretchered out of an arena, saying that she has been on countless hospital trips with Triple H over the years. Stephanie then says that, on behalf of her entire family, she is sorry, apologizing for all of the heartache that they went through. Despite the apology, Daniel Bryan says that the fans are behind him when he says that Stephanie is still “full of crap”. Stephanie then invites Daniel Bryan to come down to the ring so that he can look her in the eyes. Bryan says that he is still going to see a “liar” and he realizes that, at the snap of her fingers, Stephanie could have Kane come out there and assault him or his wife. Bryan says that his head hurts and he cannot move his neck, but he never gives up and he will not give up this Sunday. Bryan then says that, if Kane takes him down at Extreme Rules, he is taking Kane down with him! Stephanie says that she does not know where Kane is tonight, but she does know that Kane’s mask has been locked in her office all day. Stephanie then says that, while Daniel Bryan will not be cleared to compete until Extreme Rules, Brie Bella can compete and, in a way of trying to make it up to the couple, she is giving Brie a shot at the Divas Championship tonight! Daniel Bryan then vows to accompany his wife to ringside for the match and Stephanie agrees that Bryan should be at ringside, announcing that the match will take place right now. However, unbeknownst to Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella, the box that holds Kane’s mask was empty backstage. In an impromptu match made by Stephanie McMahon in an attempt to make things up to Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella, Brie Bella, with Daniel Bryan in her corner, would challenge Paige for the Divas Title on RAW! During the match, with both Paige and Brie Bella down, Kane’s music would hit and Daniel Bryan would stand at ringside, awaiting the arrival of the monster. However, a hole would mysteriously tear in the ring and Kane would rise from beneath the ring, getting his hands on Brie Bella, trying to pull Brie down below. Kane would knock Daniel Bryan to the side, but the pugnacious champion would pummel Kane with lefts and rights before Kane shoves Bryan to the outside where Bryan immediately starts holding his injured neck. Back in the ring, Kane would climb out of the hole and would attempt to drag Brie back to the hole in the ring. Fortunately for Brie, her husband grabs a heavy steel wrench before coming back into the ring as Daniel Bryan whacks the monster in the skull with the weapon. Daniel Bryan then tends to his wife, but “The Devil’s Favorite Demon” sits up and Bryan immediately gets his wife out of the ring just before Kane gets his hands on Daniel Bryan, drilling Bryan with a vicious chokeslam! However, Brie makes the mistake of coming back into the ring to check on Bryan and this is when Kane gets his hands on Brie again, but Brie just narrowly manages to slip out of the grasp of Kane, scrambling out of the ring to join her husband. As referees and doctors try to help Bryan to the back, flames erupt on the stage as Kane maniacally laughs about his actions. Backstage, a hurting Daniel Bryan and a spooked Brie Bella are in the trainer’s room when Stephanie McMahon enters, claiming that she had no idea about Kane’s attack, asking if Daniel Bryan will even be able to compete at Extreme Rules. Bryan assures Stephanie that he will be at Extreme Rules and Stephanie will pay for bringing his wife into this. Stephanie again apologizes to the couple, but Brie Bella screams at the Principal Owner, screaming “get out, you bitch!” Then it was time for the Finals of the tournament to name a new #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title as “Mr. Monday Night” Rob Van Dam would go one-on-one with Bad News Barrett with the winner earning a shot at Big E’s Intercontinental Title at Extreme Rules. With Rob Van Dam moments away from victory, RVD’s attention would be drawn to Cesaro, who climbs on the ring apron. However, Jack Swagger would pull Cesaro off of the apron and a fight would ensue on the outside. Back in the ring, RVD would duck the Bull Hammer Elbow en route to hitting Rolling Thunder on Barrett. RVD then climbs up for the Five-Star Frog Splash, but Cesaro tries to get involved again and he is kicked off the apron by RVD. The momentary distraction would provide Bad News Barrett with the opportunity to get his knees up as RVD landed the Five-Star Frog Splash. Barrett then follows this up with the Bull Hammer Elbow, pinning RVD to pick up the win and become the new #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title! After the match, Cesaro would ambush Rob Van Dam, stomping away at RVD, but Jack Swagger would then attack Cesaro, planting Cesaro with the gutwrench powerbomb. Swagger then sets his sights on Rob Van Dam, but RVD battles back, taking Swagger down with a kick to the face. With Cesaro in perfect position, RVD then soars with the Five-Star Frog Splash to Cesaro! Before Randy Orton faces Roman Reigns in the main event, Evolution would appear on RAW. WWE COO Triple H speaks first, saying that The Shield is starting to remind him of Evolution. Batista adds that The Shield will never be as good as Evolution before Triple H says that, this Sunday, The Shield will either “adapt or perish”. The Shield then make their way to the ring, leading to a face-off between the two factions. However, this is when RAW, as well as The Shield, gets a big surprise as the WWE Hall of Famer and original Evolution member “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair makes his way to the ring! Flair greets his former Evolution teammates and friends before Ric Flair grabs a microphone. Flair says that it is great to be in the ring with men who exude what this business is all about, saying that he and The Four Horsemen ran wild for years and they “styled and profiled” and the same can be said for Evolution. Flair continues, saying that he is surrounded by Superstars is exemplify “power” and “grace”, revealing that he is not talking about Evolution, he is talking about The Shield! “The Nature Boy” then shakes hands with Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns, giving his endorsement to The Shield before exiting the ring! Then it was time for the main event as six nights before Evolution and The Shield collide in a 6-Man Tag Match at Extreme Rules, The Shield’s Roman Reigns, with Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins in his corner, would go one-on-one with St. Louis’ own Randy Orton, with Triple H & Batista in his corner. During the match, a distraction from Batista and interference from Triple H would spark a war on the outside as Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins attack Triple H & Batista, but Evolution would gain the advantage as Triple H tosses Dean Ambrose over the announce table and tosses Seth Rollins into the ring apron. Realizing what Triple H & Batista did to his teammates, Roman Reigns jumps to the outside, but he is immediately overwhelmed by the two-on-one disadvantage. Randy Orton then joins in and Evolution beats Roman Reigns down, but Ambrose and Rollins get back into the fight briefly before getting taken out again. Triple H & Batista then send Reigns into the steel steps while Orton slams Rollins into the barricade. Triple H then hits Dean Ambrose with a spinebuster on the arena floor before sending Seth Rollins face-first into the steel ring post, followed shortly by Orton sending Reigns into the steel ring post, as well. Evolution then rolls Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns back into the ring, continuing the beatdown of The Shield. Triple H then blasts Dean Ambrose with a clothesline before setting Ambrose up for the Pedigree, but Seth Rollins would springboard off of the top rope, taking Triple H down! Ambrose & Rollins then fight off Batista & Orton, sending both men out of the ring before Roman Reigns sizes Triple H up and delivers the Spear to the COO! The Shield then picks up Triple H for the three-man powerbomb, but Batista & Randy Orton get on the ring apron wielding steel chairs and The Shield knocks Orton & Batista off of the ring apron. However, Orton & Batista would still give Triple H enough time to slip away as Evolution regroups on the ramp and The Shield stands tall in the ring. What did you think of this week’s RAW?
