WWE RAW Results: January 27, 2014By Cassidy| January 28, 2014 WWE Raw New Enemies Made? One night after the Royal Rumble, the 1079th edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH. After a newsworthy Royal Rumble event, the world is still buzzing about the winner of the 2014 Royal Rumble Match as six-time World Champion “The Animal” Batista entered the fray at #28, tossing four men out of the ring en route to punching his ticket to the main event of WrestleMania, where he will challenge Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. With “The Animal” now gunning for his former Evolution teammate, what will happen between the WrestleMania opponents on RAW? Speaking of Randy Orton and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, “The Viper” was all but defeated at the Royal Rumble once John Cena locked in the STF on the champion, but that is when The Wyatt Family got involved. For reasons still unknown, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, & Erick Rowan appeared during the closing moments of the match, distracting Cena and allowing Orton to hit the RKO to secure the victory over Cena. After costing him the title, The Wyatt Family would dismantle Cena in classic Wyatt fashion, but the question still remains as to why The Wyatt Family has targeted John Cena. After thirteen years of Kane owning the record for having the most eliminations in a single Royal Rumble Match with eleven eliminations in 2001, The Shield’s Roman Reigns crushed the record, scoring twelve eliminations at the Royal Rumble, two of which were his own teammates, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins! With dissention among The Shield more apparent than ever, will the group completely fall apart on RAW? Match Results The Real Americans def. Detailed Results The Authority was all smiles as WWE COO Triple H & WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon kick off RAW. As the crowd immediately erupts in “yes” chants, Stephanie says that last night’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view was one of the most “successful” in history, which turns the chants of “yes” into loud “boos”. Triple H then mocks the fans, asking if they didn’t get what they wanted. The COO then says that the Royal Rumble was an “incredible night” where Randy Orton successfully retained the title against John Cena and Brock Lesnar destroyed Big Show. Triple H continues, saying that the Royal Rumble also saw their “good friend”, Batista, won the Royal Rumble Match to guarantee “The Animal” a main event title match at WrestleMania. Stephanie then announces that, in four weeks at WWE Elimination Chamber, Randy Orton will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship inside the Elimination Chamber. The crowd then erupts with the arrival of Daniel Bryan, saying that they don’t want to make The Authority mad with their chants of “yes” and “Daniel Bryan”. Bryan said that he had one of the toughest matches of his career against Bray Wyatt at the Royal Rumble and a lot of people are talking about his match as one of the “greatest moments” of the night. Triple H says that the match was a “good little effort” and Daniel Bryan says that, when people talk about the “biggest disappointment” of the night, it was Daniel Bryan’s exclusion from the Royal Rumble Match. Daniel Bryan continues, saying that, every time he came to their door and asked to be in the Royal Rumble Match, they said “no”. Stephanie says that they did not want to put Bryan in “harm’s way” by having him compete twice in one night. Bryan argues, saying that they have repeatedly make him wrestle multiple times in one night against the likes of The Shield and The Wyatt Family. Bryan says that they only care about what is “worse for Daniel Bryan” and Stephanie says that Bryan only cares about himself, saying that Bryan cannot honestly believe that all the fans came there to see Daniel Bryan. As the crowd chants “Daniel Bryan”, Stephanie claims that she cannot tell what they are chanting. Bryan admits that he cannot change what happened at the Royal Rumble, but Stephanie did just announce an Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and he wants in that match. Daniel Bryan then gets in the face of Triple H, saying that neither of them should leave that ring until he gets what he wants. The COO says that they are not in the ring alone, which was the signal for The Shield to arrive on the scene. Daniel Bryan would quickly grab a steel chair, swinging it at Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, but Roman Reigns would knock Daniel Bryan down. The Shield would then put the boots to Bryan, but “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus, who returned at the Royal Rumble, makes the save. However, The Shield would overwhelm Sheamus, but John Cena would then come out, evening the odds and, together, Cena, Sheamus, and Bryan would send The Shield packing as the trio retreats through the crowd. It was announced during the commercial break that the main event of the evening would be a unique 6-Man Tag Match which would see the team of John Cena, Sheamus, & Daniel Bryan face all three members of The Shield in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match, where all three members of the winning team will be entered into the Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship! The opening match of the night saw Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara face The Real Americans, with Zeb Colter in their corner, in tag team action. Early on in the match, Jack Swagger would get knocked to the outside and Zeb Colter would rile up Swagger, slapping Swagger across the face, telling Swagger to use his anger in the ring! In the end, Antonio Cesaro would catch Sin Cara in mid-air with a vicious European Uppercut, following it up with the Neutralizer, pinning Sin Cara to pick up the win for The Real Americans. After being eliminated from the Royal Rumble Match by the mini-bull mascot, El Torito, Fandango would be looking to regain some credibility as the dancing Superstar, with Summer Rae in his corner, would go one-on-one with R-Truth, with Xavier Woods a guest on commentary. In the end, it was R-Truth hitting the What’s Up on Fandango, pinning Fandango for the win. RAW General Manager Brad Maddox would appear on RAW to introduce the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton, who makes his way to the ring. The champion says that, despite what they all thought, he walked out of the Royal Rumble as the champion and, while some may call his victory “hollow”, it does not matter because he still won. Orton then confronts the GM, saying that he found out that he will have to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship inside the Elimination Chamber, saying that he deserves some “respect” and that he is the face of the WWE. The champion is then interrupted by the winner of the 2014 Royal Rumble Match, “The Animal” Batista. Through chants of “Daniel Bryan”, Batista congratulates Randy Orton before saying that he does not care who the champion come WrestleMania is and he does not care what The Authority or anyone else thinks because he is walking out as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Things then get very interesting with the arrival of the self-proclaimed #1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as, with Paul Heyman in tow, “The Beast” Brock Lesnar makes his way to the ring! Paul Heyman talks directly to Brad Maddox, saying that Lesnar’s patience is “running thin”, telling Maddox to tell The Authority that they have two choices. Heyman then proposes the monumental idea of having Randy Orton defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Brock Lesnar! Heyman says that the other option is to put Brock Lesnar against Batista! Heyman then says that Brock Lesnar wants an answer tonight “or else”! Two Cleveland natives would face off on RAW as “The Show-Off” Dolph Ziggler would face The Miz in The Battle of Cleveland. In the end, it was Dolph Ziggler hitting the Zig Zag on The Miz, pinning The Miz to win The Battle of Cleveland. In tag team action, The Usos would face Ryback & Curtis Axel on RAW. In the end, it was Jimmy Uso hitting the Superfly Splash on Ryback, pinning Ryback to pick up the win for The Usos. After failing to make good on his promise to eliminate Batista from the Royal Rumble Match, Alberto Del Rio would go one-on-one with Kofi Kingston on RAW. During the match, the fans would chant for JBL, Jerry Lawler, & Michael Cole with each commentator standing up, much to the crowd’s delight and Del Rio’s frustration. In the end, it was a vicious double stomp to the face of Kofi Kingston, followed by a straight kick to the face that would ensure victory for “The Mexican Aristocrat”. The New Age Outlaws made history on the Royal Rumble Kickoff, winning their sixth tag team championship an astonishing fourteen years after their fifth, new WWE Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws would defend the gold against the former champions, Goldust & Cody Rhodes, in a rematch on RAW. In the middle of the title match, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman inexplicably make their way to the ring and, as The New Age Outlaws make a quick retreat, “The Beast” sends a clear message to The Authority, laying both Goldust and Cody Rhodes out with the F-5! Paul Heyman then explains that The Authority picked “option three” and opted not to have Lesnar face anyone tonight. Heyman then tosses Lesnar a chair and says that this is what happens when Brock does not get what he wants. The weapon-wielding monster then blasts Goldust’s spine with the steel chair, followed by Cody Rhodes. Lesnar then delivers three more chair shots to Rhodes before breaking the chair into pieces over the back of Goldust. Lesnar then looms over the broken brothers before finally exiting the ring with Heyman not far behind. The Divas were in action on RAW as the Total Divas team of The Funkadactyls & The Bella Twins would face Divas Champion AJ Lee, Tamina Snuka, Aksana, & Alicia Fox in an 8-Diva Tag Match. In the end, it was Naomi hitting the Rear View on AJ Lee, pinning the Divas Champion to pick up the win for the Total Divas. With The Ultimate Warrior already announced for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2014, RAW would feature the announcement of another inductee as one of the most frightening individuals in WWE history would take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame as Jake “The Snake” Roberts will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on April 5 in New Orleans! Then it was time for the main event as John Cena would join Daniel Bryan and the returning “Celtic Warrior” Sheamus to face all three members of The Shield, United States Champion Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns in a 6-Man Tag Match where all three members of the winning team will join champion Randy Orton in the Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber. In similar fashion to what happened at the Royal Rumble, John Cena would lock Roman Reigns in the STF and, as Reigns was close to breaking the grip of Cena, everything fades to black and The Wyatt Family arrives on the scene, attacking John Cena! Sheamus and Daniel Bryan quickly jump in to even the odds, helping John Cena rid the ring of The Wyatt Family. As John Cena, Sheamus, & Daniel Bryan stand tall in the ring, The Shield is enraged by the announcement that, as a result of The Wyatt Family’s interference, the team of John Cena, Sheamus, & Daniel Bryan win the match via disqualification, meaning that Cena, Sheamus, & Bryan will all be entered into the Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship!
