WWE RAW Results: September 23, 2013By Cassidy| September 24, 2013 WWE Raw Long Time Coming. Thirteen nights before WWE Battleground, the 1061st edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the hometown of “The Best in the World” CM Punk at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL. After Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, The Usos, The Prime Time Players, Zack Ryder, Justin Gabriel, & Rob Van Dam all rushed to the aid of Daniel Bryan at the conclusion of last week’s RAW to save Bryan from certain destruction at the hands of Randy Orton and The Shield, will WWE COO Triple H punish these ten Superstars for their involvement? Speaking of punishment, Randy Orton unleashed his inner “Viper” on last week’s RAW at the coaxing of Triple H & Stephanie McMahon as the ten-time former champion targeted The Miz, assaulted and crushing the larynx of “The Awesome One” in Miz’s hometown, in front of The Miz’s mother and father. With Randy Orton back to his unpredictable, dangerous self, who will become Orton’s next victim? Detailed Results RAW kicks off with Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, The Usos, The Prime Time Players, Zack Ryder, Justin Gabriel, & Rob Van Dam all standing on the stage and The Shield standing guard at ringside as WWE COO Triple H and his wife, WWE Executive Vice President of Creative Stephanie McMahon, make their way to the ring. Triple H says that they have asked all ten of the Superstars on the stage to be there because they want to say “thank you” for finally standing up and acting like “men”. The COO then says that the Superstars did not do what they did to help Daniel Bryan. Rob Van Dam then steps up to the microphone, saying that they were fighting for Daniel Bryan. RVD then says that Triple H “screwed” Daniel Bryan over and the COO would do the same to any of them, saying that they were just fighting for what is “right”. Triple H comments, saying that he has never known a WWE Superstar to fight “for” the WWE Champion as they typically fight to “be” WWE Champion. “The Cerebral Assassin” then tries to play mind games with Dolph Ziggler, asking if Dolph thinks that Daniel Bryan deserves another shot at the WWE Championship more than Ziggler deserves it. Stephanie then does the same with R-Truth, saying that she cannot remember the last time that R-Truth got a shot at the WWE Championship, asking why a guy like R-Truth or a guy like Zack Ryder cannot be the “face of the WWE” as its champion. Stephanie says that there is “one reason” why none of them have a title shot as of this moment. Triple H then says that it is because of The Shield, saying that Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns have collectively beaten down each and every one of them since the trio arrived. The COO again insists that the Superstars involvement last week had nothing to do with Daniel Bryan, saying the ten were frustrated because of The Shield. Triple H then says that all of them are going to get the chance to get their hands on The Shield and, much to the confusion of The Shield, the COO announces that the ten Superstars on the stage will face The Shield in a Handicap Elimination Match! Triple H then adds that the ten Superstars on the stage will be joined by the man that they all fought for last week and the man who thinks that he should be the “face of the WWE”, as well as the man who thinks he is “better” than all of the men on the stage, Daniel Bryan! Stephanie McMahon then says that the WWE fans also need to be thanked and, as a reward, the fans will get to pick who Randy Orton will face tonight on RAW, either R-Truth, Dolph Ziggler, or Rob Van Dam. Stephanie then says that she believes in doing what is “best” for the fans and Triple H adds that what is best for the fans is what is “best for business”. Before he joins ten other Superstars to face The Shield in the first ever 11-on-3 Handicap Elimination Match later on in the night, Kofi Kingston would go one-on-one with World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio in a non-title match. Despite a tremendous effort from Kofi Kingston, Alberto Del Rio would lock on the cross armbreaker on the arm that was injured throughout the match, forcing Kofi to tap out to pick up the win. Backstage, The Miz is interviewed about the assault by Randy Orton last week, but before Miz can comment, Triple H interrupts, telling The Miz that, as the COO, he has to have the health of the Superstars in mind. Triple H continues, saying that there is no telling what Randy Orton would do to The Miz in his condition, but he believes in giving the fans what they want and what they want is Miz TV and Miz’s guest will be Big Show! The Wyatt Family was in action on RAW as Luke Harper & Erick Rowan, with Bray Wyatt in their corner, would face The Prime Time Players. In the end, it was Luke Harper taking Titus O’Neil out with the Discus Clothesline, pinning Titus for the win. After the match, Bray Wyatt would ambush Darren Young, hitting the Sister Abigail on Young, leaving both Darren Young & Titus O’Neil laid out in the ring. One week after he was brutally assaulted by Randy Orton in front of his friends and family, not to mention his mother and father, in his hometown, The Miz would appear on RAW to host Miz TV. Before introducing his guest, The Miz had a message for Randy Orton, saying that it is a lot easier to knock him down than keep him down and he will get his payback on Orton. The Miz then introduces his guest, the man who had no choice but to knock Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes out last week, Big Show. The Miz asks Big Show how he could do that to a Hall of Famer like Dusty Rhodes, saying that Triple H & Stephanie McMahon are trying to “break” Big Show, saying that the other Superstars are beginning to “step up” and it is time for Big Show to do the same. The Miz then calls Stephanie McMahon a “castrating witch”, which results in Stephanie McMahon interrupting Miz TV, making her way to the ring. Stephanie says that The Miz’s line of questioning is “disrespectful” and, as far as she and her husband are concerned, it is borderline “slander”. Stephanie continues, saying that The Miz understands his own “inadequacies” and he understands that he is not a “major player”, commenting that there is nothing worse than a Superstar who “peaks too early”. Stephanie then says that The Miz is what they call a “utility player”, elaborating that, when they need someone to appear on a radio show early in the morning or travel to a far-off country or need someone to make a local supermarket opening special, they send The Miz. Stephanie continues, saying that they gave The Miz a huge opportunity last week against Randy Orton in his hometown, but when she looked at the eyes of The Miz’s mom, she saw her face change from “hope” to “absolute disappointment”, saying that The Miz failed his family, his friends, and, most of all, himself! Stephanie then says that Randy Orton “dismembered” The Miz last week, saying that The Miz never learns his lesson. Stephanie then instructs Big Show to knock The Miz out and “The World’s Largest Athlete” does not hesitate, blasting The Miz with the Knockout Punch, leaving Miz lying in the ring! Thirteen nights before he faces Daniel Bryan for the vacant WWE Championship at Battleground, “The Viper” Randy Orton would go one-on-one with “Mr. Monday Night” Rob Van Dam, with Ricardo Rodriguez in his corner, as voted on by the WWE fans. After narrowly avoiding the Five-Star Frog Splash, Randy Orton would set his sights on destroying Rob Van Dam as Orton first kicks RVD off of the top rope to the floor. Orton then tosses Van Dam into the ringside barricade and, as the referee rings the bell for the double count-out, Orton exposes the steel of the barricade, dropping RVD spine-first onto the steel before he throws RVD into the steel steps. After chasing Ricardo Rodriguez off, Orton would deliver straight right hands to the skull of RVD before tossing RVD into the steel ring steps again. Orton then drags Van Dam over the other side of the ring, tossing him over the announce table before rolling RVD back into the ring, where Orton places RVD on the top rope and, with a smile on his face, Orton spikes RVD with a DDT from the top rope! Referees and WWE’s ringside physician then rush into the ring to tend to RVD. Things would then get even worse for Rob Van Dam as Alberto Del Rio attacks his challenger at Battleground, locking the cross armbreaker on the helpless RVD as referees scramble, finally able to pull Del Rio off of Van Dam. “The Lord of Dance” was in action on RAW as Fandango, with Summer Rae in his corner, would go one-on-one with Santino Marella. With the help of a distraction from Summer Rae, Fandango would gain the advantage in the match, hitting the leg drop off of the top rope en route to picking up the win. For the first time since being driven through a table by Ryback, paving the way for the epic humiliation of being pinned by Paul Heyman at Night of Champions, “The Best in the World” would return home as Chicago’s own CM Punk would appear on RAW! Punk says that he has not smiled in eight days, but he cannot help it when he is in his hometown with a reception like the one he just received. Punk says that he let all of them down at Night of Champions when he, technically, lost to Paul Heyman. Punk continues, saying that he is not “smart enough” to stay down most of the time, but now he is thinking that he doesn’t deserve to compete anymore and he doesn’t deserve to perform in front of the greatest wrestling crowd in the world, but then he thinks about the championship Chicago Blackhawks, who didn’t feel sorry for themselves and they ultimately won the Stanley Cup back in May. Punk then says that is the “Chicago way”, saying that he is proud of the Blackhawks and he is proud of his city, saying that Chicagoans fight and, tonight, he wants to fight! Punk is then interrupted by the horrible singing of Paul Heyman, who rolls out riding a Rascal scooter, but Punk tells Heyman that Heyman has picked a terrible time to interrupt him, saying that they are in Chicago tonight and he knows a crowd full of people who will be happy to bail him out of jail after what he does to Paul Heyman lands him there! Heyman says that, while he is still feeling the effects of Night of Champions, he takes “solace” in the fact that he can go around telling everyone that he is the “best in the world” because he beat CM Punk. Heyman then refers to Punk as the “second best in the world” before showing a still from Night of Champions of Heyman pinning Punk following Ryback’s interference. Punk responds by asking Heyman if, when he makes a move to go after Heyman, will Ryback and Curtis Axel be able to get to Heyman fast enough to protect him, saying that “two seconds” is all he is going to need, vowing to rip Heyman’s face off! The ultra-confident Heyman says that, not only did he beat Punk at Night of Champions, he beat Punk with both hands tied behind his back. Heyman was then set to roll away unharmed, but the scooter does not start! Punk realizes this, hopping out of the ring, but as soon as Punk touches Heyman, Ryback & Curtis Axel jump Punk from both sides of the ramp. However, the former WWE Champion refuses to be denied as “The Best in the World” knocks Ryback off of the ramp before battling Axel on the staging area as Punk tosses Axel into the lighting grid before dropping Axel with a kick to the mid-section. Punk then runs and dives off of the stage, taking Ryback down with a clothesline! However, Axel would get back into the fight long enough for Ryback to hit Punk from behind with a clothesline. Ryback then slams Punk on an anvil case before climbing onto the case, lifting Punk high above his head and tossing the hometown hero down to the concrete, crashing through a table on the way down. Then, on the ramp, Heyman flawlessly springs up out of his scooter, hops off of the ramp, and walks with ease to hand Ryback a microphone as Ryback says that what happened to Punk is what happens to “bullies”. WWE’s ringside physician then rushes to tend to the motionless Punk. As a slew of WWE Divas make their way to the ring for competition, the ringside physician and referees try to help CM Punk, but Punk refuses medical attention, opting to walk to the back on his own accord. The Divas were in action on RAW as Divas Champion AJ Lee would team with Aksana, Layla, Alicia Fox, & Tamina Snuka to face the team of Natalya, The Bella Twins, & The Funkadactyls, with Eva Marie and Jo-Jo in their corner, in a 10-Diva Tag Match. Brie Bella would end up hitting the facebuster on AJ Lee, pinning the Divas Champion for the win. Before he faces Randy Orton with the vacant WWE Championship on the line at Battleground, Daniel Bryan would make an appearance on RAW. Bryan says that, last week, he was stripped of the WWE Championship because he was accused of being involved in a conspiracy with former referee Scott Armstrong. Bryan then says that you do not have to use a fast-count when a man is already knocked out! Bryan continues, saying that it does not matter which version of Randy Orton shows up at Battleground, he is going to take back what is his and that is the WWE Championship. Bryan then says that, come Battleground, there will be “no more hiding” and, after he regains the WWE Title, the word “yes” will take permanent residence in the back of Orton’s mind. Looking to get the jump on Daniel Bryan before Bryan’s tag team partners arrive, The Shield comes out with a plan of attack on Daniel Bryan. However, those plans are shot down as soon as Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns jump the barricade as they are blind-sided by two attackers in street clothes, one of which was wearing gold face paint as Cody Rhodes & Goldust strike, assaulting the United States Champion and the WWE Tag Team Champions as security scrambles to pull The Rhodes Brothers off of The Shield! Security is then finally able to pull Rhodes & Goldust off of The Shield as the unemployed Rhodes are ejected from the arena. Then it was time for the unheard of main event as, for the first time ever, there would be an 11-on-3 Handicap Elimination Match as the massive team of Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, The Usos, The Prime Time Players, Justin Gabriel, & Rob Van Dam would face the three members of The Shield, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns! All bandaged up and injured following a heinous assault from Randy Orton earlier in the night, Rob Van Dam would do his best to combat Dean Ambrose, but it wasn’t long before Ambrose takes advantage of RVD’s injuries, hitting Van Dam with the Headlock Driver en route to eliminating “Mr. Monday Night” from the match. The same fate would await Kofi Kingston as Dean Ambrose would take advantage of Kofi’s injured arm before putting Kingston down with the Headlock Driver, eliminating Kofi. Roman Reigns would then do the work for The Shield, hitting Titus O’Neil with the Spear to eliminate one-half of The Prime Time Players. Reigns was far from done, however, as the WWE Tag Team Champion also blasts through Justin Gabriel and Zack Ryder, respectively, with the Spear, eliminating three men in a matter of minutes, leaving only six Superstars to combat The Shield! After a flurry from Daniel Bryan, Roman reigns fire would be put out by The Usos as Jey Uso soars off of the top rope with the Superfly Splash to Reigns, pinning Reigns for the first time in his career, shocking the two remaining members of The Shield! The Shield would then get a bit closer to evening the field after Seth Rollins comes off of the top rope with a knee to the skull of Darren Young, eliminating Young from the match. However, Dolph Ziggler would deal a major blow to The Shield as Dolph hits the Zig Zag on Dean Ambrose, pinning the United States Champion and leaving Seth Rollins all alone to combat the remaining five Superstars! Seth Rollins would manage to hold his own in the lopsided battle, even scoring an elimination, hitting R-Truth with a Curb Stomp to eliminate Truth from the match. On the apron, Daniel Bryan instructs Dolph Ziggler & The Usos to get on all four sides of the ring and, in the style of The Shield, Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, and The Usos attack Seth Rollins, punishing the Shield member with a barrage of kicks. This brings Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns out to try and save Rollins, but Dolph Ziggler & The Usos take care of the interference, taking Ambrose & Reigns out on the outside! Meanwhile, in the ring, Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins were left alone to wage war and, in the end, it was Daniel Bryan hitting the running knee on Seth Rollins, pinning Rollins to pick up the win for Daniel Bryan and his team!
