Two nights before Extreme Rules, the 717th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, KS. Two nights before they square in an anything goes Extreme Rules Match at Extreme Rules, “The Viper” Randy Orton and “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show will both be guests on Miz TV! Also, before they challenge Team Hell No for the WWE Tag Team Titles in a Tornado Tag Team Match at Extreme Rules, The Shield’s Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns would face Jimmy & Jey Uso in tag team action. Match Results Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns def. Jimmy & Jey Uso by Roman Reigns pinning Jey Uso following the Spear. Tons of Funk def. The Prime Time Players by Brodus Clay pinning Darren Young following the double Funkasplash. Chris Jericho def. Antonio Cesaro by submission to the Walls of Jericho. The Miz def. Damien Sandow (with Cody Rhodes) by submission to the Figure-Four Leg Lock. Non-Title: Kaitlyn def. Aksana by pin following the Spear. 6-Man Tag: Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus, & Randy Orton def. Jack Swagger, Mark Henry, & Big Show by Randy Orton pinning Jack Swagger following the RKO. Detailed Results SmackDown kicks off with the return of “the most must-see talk show in WWE history” Miz TV as The Miz wastes no time in introducing his guests, first bringing out a former rival of his in “The Viper” Randy Orton, who makes his way to the ring, followed by Orton’s opponent in an Extreme Rules Match this Sunday at Extreme Rules, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show. The Miz reminds Big Show of what happened last week as, after Big Show defeated Tensai, Big Show was looking to level Brodus Clay with the K.O. Punch, but Randy Orton slid in and hit the RKO on “The World’s Largest Athlete”, asking Big Show if the same thing will happen at Extreme Rules. Big Show argues that Randy Orton was only able to hit him with the RKO “from behind”, saying that, at Extreme Rules, he can use whatever he wants to “destroy” Orton. Big Show continues, saying that he does not need “weapons” because his fists are his weapons and, in Orton’s hometown of St. Louis, there will only be a “TKO”. Orton argues that the ending of Big Show’s “story” is “inaccurate”, saying that there is “not a chance” that he will allow Big Show to knock him out in front of his friends and families in St. Louis and the only thing that the world will remember after Extreme Rules is how he “struck down” the giant, adding that, if Big Show is not careful, he may not get back up! The intense face-off is then broken up by the arrival of Jack Swagger & Zeb Colter as Colter says that Extreme Rules will be “memorable”, but it will be for Jack Swagger forcing Alberto Del Rio to say “I quit” and becoming the new #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. As Swagger & Colter get into the ring, Alberto Del Rio & Ricardo Rodriguez come out as Del Rio says that everyone is “sick” of hearing Zeb Colter, saying that everyone will remember Del Rio becoming the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title by making Swagger say “I quit”, saying that he will make sure that Colter goes back to where he came from! “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry then weighs in, saying that, come Extreme Rules, people will remember him “throwing, dragging, and beating” Sheamus like no one has ever done in Sheamus’ life. Mark Henry then gets in the already crowded ring, saying that people will remember that he is “The World’s Strongest Man”. Sheamus then comes out, saying that he will leave Mark Henry’s “giant carcass” covered in welts at Extreme Rules. Sheamus then charges the ring with leather strap in hand, sending Mark Henry out of the ring and sparking a brawl between all parties, which results in Randy Orton, Alberto Del Rio, & Sheamus standing tall in the ring! With SmackDown General Manager Booker T recovering from surgery to repair a torn triceps, the Senior Advisor to SmackDown General Manager Booker T, Theodore Long, makes an appearance on SmackDown to announce a huge main event for SmackDown, announcing that the team of Alberto Del Rio, Randy Orton, & Sheamus will face Jack Swagger, Big Show, & Mark Henry in a 6-Man Tag Match! Before they challenge Kane & Daniel Bryan for the WWE Tag Team Titles in a Tornado Tag Match this Sunday at Extreme Rules, The Shield’s Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns, with Dean Ambrose in their corner, faced Jimmy & Jey Uso on SmackDown. In the end, it was Roman Reigns hitting the Spear on Jey Uso en route to picking up the win for himself and Seth Rollins. After the match, The Shield would target Jey Uso, pummeling Jey, but Dean Ambrose’s Extreme Rules opponent, Kofi Kingston, rushes out to attempt the save. However, The Shield overwhelms the United States Champion, sending Kofi to the outside, but Kofi would return to the ring with steel chair in hand, scaring The Shield out of the ring! In a rematch from Monday’s RAW, Tons of Funk would face The Prime Time Players in tag team action. In the end, it was Brodus Clay & Tensai hitting the double Funkasplash on Darren Young with Brodus Clay pinning Darren Young to pick up the win for Tons of Funk. Two nights before he goes one-on-one with Fandango at Extreme Rules, “Y2J” Chris Jericho would go one-on-one with Antonio Cesaro on SmackDown. At the end of an intense match, it was Chris Jericho locking in the Walls of Jericho on Antonio Cesaro, forcing Cesaro to tap out to pick up the win. After the match, Summer Rae would dance out onto the stage in an attempt to set up an ambush from Fandango, but the veteran Jericho would get the first shot and the two rivals would brawl until Antonio Cesaro’s involvement allowed Fandango to escape. Jericho then hits Cesaro with the Codebreaker before staring down Fandango! With The Miz’s Extreme Rules Pre-Show opponent Cody Rhodes a guest on commentary, The Miz would go one-on-one with Damien Sandow on SmackDown. In the middle of the match, Cody Rhodes would stand up, demanding that the fans stand up and show respect for Damien Sandow. Later on in the match, The Miz would go for the Figure-Four Leg Lock, but Cody Rhodes would get on the apron, distracting The Miz. Undaunted, Miz would knock Rhodes off of the ring apron before locking in the Figure-Four Leg Lock on Sandow, forcing Damien to tap out. The Divas Champion was in action on SmackDown as Kaitlyn went one-on-one with Aksana in a non-title match. In the end, it was Kaitlyn catching Aksana with the Spear en route to the Divas Champion picking up the win. Then it was time for the main event that would have major Extreme Rules implications as “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio, with Ricardo Rodriguez in his corner, would team with “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus & “The Viper” Randy Orton to face the team of “The Real American” Jack Swagger, with Zeb Colter in his corner, “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry, & “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show in a 6-Man Tag Match! Towards the end of the chaotic match, Alberto Del Rio would knock Mark Henry off of the ring apron with the enziguiri before Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick on Big Show on the outside of the ring and, finally, Randy Orton hits the RKO on Jack Swagger in the ring, pinning Swagger to pick up the win for himself, Sheamus, & Alberto Del Rio.
