WWE: What Does WWE Think of El Generico?By Cassidy| May 16, 2013 Wrestling News Earlier this year, world-renowned independent wrestling star El Generico (Rami Sebei) signed a developmental deal with WWE and was sent to WWE’s developmental territory, NXT, and, in March, El Generico was re-branded as Sami Zayn. In addition to the new name, WWE called for Sami Zayn to change his style as, to the dismay of El Generico’s fans from the independent circuit, Generico had to get rid of his signature mask and was also asked to “tone down” his in-ring style, calling for less high-flying maneuvers, believing that continuing the “El Generico” style would cut his young career short. Despite being a bit out of his comfort zone with the changes made to his in-ring style and his entire look, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE management is very happy with El Generico’s work in NXT, citing the 28-year old as being highly intelligent and, to their surprise, very good at doing promos. It’s also been said that Generico has been very open to the changes that WWE has wanted him to make and has adapted quite well to his new environment. However, former ROH stars coming to WWE has a very touch and go history. While Superstars such as CM Punk and Daniel Bryan have achieved unimaginable success in the WWE, other ROH alumni like Evan Bourne, Colt Cabana, and Antonio Cesaro have, and continue to have, a hard time in the WWE. Do you think El Generico will have a successful career in the WWE? Post your comments in the box below.
