WWE: Senior Referee Released from Contract!By Cassidy| March 24, 2013 Wrestling News The Wrestling-Online Newsletter is reporting that, for unknown reasons, WWE has released one of its senior referees, Jack Doan (John Doan). Along with Mike Chioda, Jack Doan was one of the longest tenuring officials in the WWE as Doan has been with the company for 22 years. Doan joined the company in 1991 as a truck driver and also worked for the ring crew before becoming a full-time referee in the mid-90’s. Over recent years, Jack Doan was frequently assigned to the Divas matches in the WWE, but Doan has had some notable involvements in WWE angles over the years. One of Doan’s most notable angles was on the January 22, 1996 episode of RAW where Doan was assaulted by Vader as “The Rocky Mountain Monster” dropped Doan with a powerbomb in the ring. Shortly after this, Vader got his hands on then WWE President Gorilla Monsoon and ended up splashing both Doan and Monsoon in the corner. At In Your House: Unforgiven in 1998, Jack Doan was again attacked, this time by The Legion of Doom, who hit the Dooomsday Device on the referee. During the 24/7 run of the now defunct Hardcore Championship, Jack Doan actually attempted to win the Hardcore Title from then champion Crash Holly as Doan took off his referee shirt and pinned Crash, getting Jimmy Korderas to referee the impromptu match. However, Doan was unsuccessful in winning the title. Throughout his lengthy refereeing career, Jack Doan has had a concussion, a shoulder injury, and has torn ligaments in his knee. What do you think of Jack Doan’s release? Post your comments in the box below.
