WWE: Diva Search Making a Comeback?By Cassidy| January 18, 2013 Wrestling News With the departure of Eve Torres this past Monday, the Divas roster in the WWE is down to ten active Divas (Kaitlyn, AJ Lee, Layla, Natalya, Alicia Fox, Aksana, Rosa Mendes, Cameron, Naomi, & Tamina Snuka) with only Kaitlyn and Layla wrestling on a regular basis. Even though it looks like the WWE is phasing out the Divas division, PWInsider.com is reporting quite the contrary as WWE is scouting potential WWE Divas in order to relaunch the WWE Diva Search, which last took place in 2007 (and was won by Eve Torres, ironically enough). In its initial run, the WWE Diva Search (formerly the RAW Diva Search) brought several new Divas to the division, including Christy Hemme (who won in 2004), Ashley Massaro (2005 winner), Layla El (2006 winner), and Eve Torres (2007 winner). Though they did not win the competition, the Diva Search also provided a future for the likes of Candice Michelle, Rosa Mendes, Maryse Ouellet, Taryn Terrell, Kristal Marshall, Joy Giovanni, Maria Kanellis, & Michelle McCool. The quest to find new contestants for the Diva Search began back in October with a casting call for potential women to join the competition. If they do go through with relaunching the WWE Diva Search, there is no guarantee that the competition will land on television as the Diva Search could potentially be held down in WWE’s developmental territory, NXT, or could be given its own, online-exclusive show.
