WWE SmackDown Results: October 19, 2012By Cassidy| October 19, 2012 WWE SmackDown Transaction Canceled. Nine nights before Hell in a Cell, the 687th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the FedExForum in Memphis, TN. Two nights after losing the Intercontinental Title to Kofi Kingston on WWE Main Event, The Miz would, no doubt, be in a horrible mood as the self-proclaimed “most must-see” Superstar of all-time hosts his talk show, Miz TV, and his guests would be a team who knows a thing or two about bad moods and championships, the reigning WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No, Kane & Daniel Bryan! Match Results Randy Orton def. The Miz by pin following the RKO. Team Rhodes Scholars def. Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel by Cody Rhodes pinning Tyson Kidd following the Disaster Kick. Non-Title: Team Hell No def. Big Show & Dolph Ziggler by Dolph Ziggler tapping out to Daniel Bryan’s No Lock. Non-Title: Antonio Cesaro def. Ted DiBiase by pin following the Neutralizer. Heath Slater (with Jinder Mahal & Drew McIntyre) def. Brodus Clay by pin following the Drum Solo. Layla def. Natalya by pin following a kick to the head. Lumberjack Match: Non-Title: Sheamus def. Wade Barrett by pin following the Brogue Kick. Detailed Results The show kicks off with Miz TV as former Intercontinental Champion The Miz appears, telling new champion Kofi Kingston to enjoy his Intercontinental Title reign while it lasts because he is invoking his rematch clause to face Kofi for the gold a week from Sunday at Hell in a Cell! Miz then introduces his guests, WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No, Kane & Daniel Bryan. Miz says that Kane & Daniel Bryan are not a real tag team because real teams enter the arena at the same time, saying that he never got along with Daniel Bryan and Bryan never gets along with anyone. Miz continues that Bryan is the “problem”, saying that the “big red monster with a mask on” is the “sensible one”. Miz then tells Team Hell No that, regardless of which team they face, Bryan will be the reason that they lose the WWE Tag Team Titles. Kane then jumps in, saying that no one cares what The Miz thinks, saying that he has held tag team titles with the like of Big Show, Mankind, and even The Undertaker. Kane then says that, if Daniel Bryan is the “problem”, then he is the “solution”, but Daniel Bryan argues that Kane would be nothing without the “world’s toughest vegan”! Kane then says that being the world’s toughest vegan is like being the “world’s tallest dwarf”, saying that Bryan has that one covered as well. The WWE Tag Team Champions continue to argue, ignoring their host, as Bryan says that he is a former World Heavyweight Champion who defeated “The World’s Largest Athlete” in 45 seconds before proclaiming that he is the “tag team champions”. This sparks another shouting match between the teammates, but the argument is interrupted by the arrival of “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show. Big Show says that his problem is not with Kane because they have a match on RAW, but his problem is with Daniel Bryan, saying that Bryan defeating him was the “biggest fluke” in history. Big Show then says that, if he hears Daniel Bryan mention his 45-second title reign again, he will shut Bryan’s mouth for good! Kane then stands between Big Show and Daniel Bryan, saying that they do not have to wait until Monday night to have their match. “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero then interrupt as Dolph says that he is the only one who matters, saying that Sheamus and Big Show will beat the hell out of each other at Hell in a Cell and that will allow him to cash in and “steal the show” by becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion, citing that, if Bryan can do it, then he certainly can. This sparks a massive argument between all parties that is eventually interrupted by SmackDown General Manager Booker T. The Miz tells Booker to “save it”, predicting that Booker will make some sort of tag match in the main event. However, the GM announces two main events, announcing that Team Hell No will face the team of Dolph Ziggler & Big Show. Booker then has a special match in mind for the loud-mouthed Miz as the former Intercontinental Champion will go one-on-one with “The Viper” Randy Orton! With Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez watching from a luxury skybox in the arena, the opening match of the night saw Del Rio’s Hell in a Cell opponent, “The Viper” Randy Orton, going one-on-one with former Intercontinental Champion The Miz. At the end of a hard-fought match, it was Randy Orton planting The Miz with the RKO en route to picking up the win. After the match, Alberto Del Rio addresses “The Viper”, telling Randy Orton that they will fight on his “terms”. Backstage, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus catches up with Booker T’s Senior Advisor, Theodore Long, as Sheamus requests one more match against Wade Barrett, citing that Big Show ruined their last two matches. The Senior Advisor grants Sheamus’ request, even making it a Lumberjack Match to try and prevent interruptions! However, after Sheamus and Theodore Long leave the area, Booker T’s Assistant, Eve, is spotted not far behind as the reigning Divas Champion was apparently eavesdropping on the conversation. Before they face Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara in the Finals of the #1 Contenders Tag Team Tournament on RAW, SmackDown would see Team Rhodes Scholars facing Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel. In the end, it was Cody Rhodes hitting the Disaster Kick on Tyson Kidd en route to picking up the win for himself and Damien Sandow. Will Team Rhodes Scholars defeat Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara on RAW to get a shot at the WWE Tag Team Titles at Hell in a Cell? Backstage, Senior Advisor Theodore Long enters Booker T’s office where Booker T’s Assistant & Divas Champion Eve is already conversing with the GM. The Senior Advisor pitches his idea of having Sheamus face Wade Barrett in a Lumberjack Match and Booker reveals that Eve just gave him the exact same idea! Eve then accuses Theodore Long of trying to steal her idea. Booker and Eve then exit, but Eve leaves her iPad behind as Theodore Long takes the device! Nine nights before he challenges Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title at Hell in a Cell, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show teams with “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler, with Vickie Guerrero in his corner, to face the WWE Tag Team Champions, Team Hell No, in a non-title match. In the end, it was Daniel Bryan locking in the No Lock on Dolph Ziggler, forcing “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” to tap out to pick up the win for Team Hell No. After the match, Kane & Daniel Bryan take turns proclaiming that they are the tag team champions, but Team Rhodes Scholars attacks Team Hell No, knocking Kane off of the staging area before Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow stomp away at Daniel Bryan, leaving the WWE Tag Team Champions lying. The United States Champion was in action on SmackDown as Antonio Cesaro faced the returning Ted DiBiase in a non-title match. In the end, it was Antonio Cesaro hitting the Neutralizer on Ted DiBiase en route to picking up the win. The newly dubbed Three Man Band, or 3MB, appeared on SmackDown as Heath Slater, with Jinder Mahal & Drew McIntyre in his corner, went one-on-one with “The Funkasaurus” Brodus Clay, with the Funkadactyls in his corner. In the end, it was a distraction by Jinder Mahal & Drew McIntyre that would allow Heath Slater to hit the Drum Solo on Brodus Clay en route to picking up the win. With Divas Champion Eve a guest on commentary, former champion Layla went one-on-one with Natalya on SmackDown. In the end, it was Layla landing a kick to the head on Natalya en route to picking up the win. Backstage, Senior Advisor Theodore Long confronts Kaitlyn, showing some unknown photo or footage to Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn quickly snaps some pictures of the evidence before Theodore Long quickly goes to put the iPad back where he found it. Then it was time for the main event as, after two previous matches were ruined by Big Show, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus went one-on-one with “The Bareknuckle Brawler” Wade Barrett and, to make sure that no one can interfere, a host of RAW and SmackDown Superstars, including Big Show, Dolph Ziggler, Antonio Cesaro, R-Truth, Sin Cara, and Team Rhodes Scholars, would surround the ring in a special Lumberjack Match. During the match, a host of lumberjacks actually pull Wade Barrett out of the ring, protecting Barrett from the Brogue Kick. However, Sheamus responds by diving onto the group of Superstars, taking them all down before turning his attention back to Wade Barrett. Shortly after this, Barrett takes Sheamus to the outside of the ring, but when the lumberjacks do not put their hands on Sheamus, Barrett attacks the lumberjacks, sparking a massive brawl on the outside of the ring! As the action continues inside the ring, WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Daniel Bryan rushes out, trying to fight through the lumberjacks to get their hands on Team Rhodes Scholars. Amidst the hellacious brawl at ringside, Sheamus manages to hit the Brogue Kick on Wade Barrett en route to picking up the win. After the match, Dolph Ziggler catches Sheamus from behind with the Zig Zag before Dolph looked to be moments away from cashing in his Money-in-the-Bank contract. However, wanting to preserve his title shot, Big Show cancels Dolph’s cash-in, knocking Ziggler out with the W.M.D.! Big Show then tells Sheamus to take a look at Dolph Ziggler as that will be Sheamus’ fate come Hell in a Cell as Show vows to take the title from Sheamus. What did you think of this week’s SmackDown?
