WWE: Heat Between Edge and the WWEBy Cassidy| October 3, 2012 Wrestling News PWInsider.com is reporting that there is some backstage heat between the WWE and 2012 Hall of Famer Edge stemming from the eleven-time World Champion’s recent appearance on SmackDown. Following Edge’s appearance on SmackDown a couple of weeks ago, WWE tried to offer “The Rated-R Superstar” a Legends deal with the company, but, as has been the case on more than one occasion over the past year, Edge refused their deal as the retired wrestler does not want to be tied down to a contract as he is looking to pursue an acting career. Another issue between the two parties is that WWE’s proposed deal to Edge had an insultingly low amount of money with it, which rubbed Edge the wrong way. WWE is also unhappy with Edge because the internal belief is that Edge is the reason that Beth Phoenix is leaving the company later this month since the former Divas Champion is Edge’s real-life girlfriend and Phoenix plans to retire from the ring to spend more time with her Hall of Fame boyfriend, especially after Edge undergoes neck surgery in November. As if that was not enough to create tension between Edge and the WWE, Edge reportedly plans to appear for Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore promotion.
