Randy Orton by pin following the chokeslam to become the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title at Hell in a Cell. Detailed Results After sending a strong message in his return to RAW by knocking out two super heavyweights in Tensai and Brodus Clay, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show kicks off SmackDown. Big Show says that he wants the World Heavyweight Title, saying that his last title reign lasted 45 seconds and it was an embarrassment. Big Show continues that he had to watch while the guy who beat him for the title lost the title to Sheamus at WrestleMania in only 18 seconds! Big Show then says that he was not in the WrestleMania main event and he was not the World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania, but he was made fun of at WrestleMania. Big Show continues, saying that no one will ever make fun of him again once he is the World Heavyweight Champion and he is the only man in the WWE who can take the title away from Sheamus! Big Show is then interrupted by his opponent in the main event, “The Viper” Randy Orton, who says that he finds it funny how Big Show expects to take Sheamus down when Big Show hasn’t even gone through the most “sadistic” man in the WWE, himself. Orton then reveals that he was just informed that the winner of their match will challenge Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title at Hell in a Cell! Orton continues that, if Big Show thinks that he is going to stand in the way of his tenth World Title reign, then Big Show won’t be standing for long. Big Show then sums it up by saying that, by the end of the night, someone is going to get dropped with the RKO or put down with a K.O. Alberto Del Rio and his personal ring announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, then come out, saying that he was “cheated” out of the World Heavyweight Title at Night of Champions, claiming that he is better than both Big Show and Randy Orton. Del Rio then says that both of them should be at the back of the line for a title shot. Having heard enough from “The Mexican Aristocrat”, Randy Orton strikes quickly, planting Del Rio with the RKO! After breaking up with Aksana, due to Aksana inadvertently costing him a match last week, Antonio Cesaro would defend the United States Title against the man who pinned him last week, Santino Marella. In the end, it was Antonio Cesaro hitting the Neutralizer on Santino Marella en route to picking up the win and retaining the United States Title. After being accused of assaulting Kaitlyn on RAW, Buffalo’s own Beth Phoenix would go one-on-one with her friend and former tag team partner, Natalya. During a stellar Divas match, Beth Phoenix would survive the Sharpshooter of Natalya and Natalya would kick out of the Glam Slam, but in the end, “The Glamazon” was able to counter a roll-up attempt by Natalya to pick up a hard-fought win in her hometown. After the match, Divas Champion and Booker T’s Assistant, Eve, comes out and makes the shocking announcement that, until they can get to the bottom of who attacked Kaitlyn, Beth Phoenix will be suspended indefinitely! Backstage, SmackDown General Manager Booker T reveals to Senior Advisor Theodore Long that, to determine the next #1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Titles, there will be an eight-team, single elimination tournament with the winning team challenging Kane & Daniel Bryan for the tag titles at Hell in a Cell! Beth Phoenix then enters Booker T’s office, informing the GM of Eve’s ruling and Booker is outraged that Eve suspended Phoenix as Booker reverses Eve’s decision. Eve says that she was just doing what she thought Booker wanted, claiming that Theodore Long told her to suspend Beth Phoenix, saying that Long is trying to sabotage Booker T so that he can take over as GM! Booker then dismisses both his Assistant and his Senior Advisor so that he can think things out. “The Bareknuckle Brawler” was in action on SmackDown as Wade Barrett went one-on-one with Zack Ryder. In the end, it was Wade Barrett leveling Zack Ryder with the Souvenir en route to picking up the win. Then it was time for the SmackDown debut of Miz TV, but as Intercontinental Champion The Miz opens the show, his guest, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus, makes his way to the ring, interrupting Miz’s introduction. Sheamus says that he thought that The Miz might have been suffering from “memory loss” after his beatings at the hands of Ryback. Sheamus then refuses to let The Miz speak, saying Miz is lucky to have a talk show because The Miz is garbage in the ring. The Miz then produces his own microphone, saying that the last time he checked, he is still the Intercontinental Champion and everyone is going to pay to see and hear him, no matter what he does and the fans have paid to see him on Miz TV. Sheamus disputes that no one wants to see The Miz and Miz asks why Sheamus is not the least bit worried about his Hell in a Cell opponent, saying that Sheamus will lose the title at Hell in a Cell. Sheamus calls Miz a “wannabe”, saying that he takes the World Heavyweight Title very seriously, saying that the title is a “privilege” and, every day, he counts the title as a “blessing”. Sheamus then says that he knows what those people paid to see and he would be more than happy to give it to them. The proceedings are then interrupted by “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler and his business advisor, Vickie Guerrero. Dolph says that it doesn’t matter who the #1 Contender who will be at Hell in a Cell because all that matters is his Money-in-the-Bank contract, guaranteeing that, at the end of the Hell in a Cell event, he will be the World Heavyweight Champion! Sheamus says that Dolph may get “lucky” at Hell in a Cell before Sheamus realizes that he is surrounded by both The Miz and Dolph Ziggler. Sheamus shoves Miz down before taking it to Dolph Ziggler, but Miz and Dolph get the better of Sheamus before Sheamus is able to fight back, sending both men out of the ring. The eight-team tournament to crown new #1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Titles at Hell in a Cell kicked off on SmackDown with a First Round Match pitting Jimmy & Jey Uso against the newly formed team of Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow, the Rhodes Scholars. In the end, it was Cody Rhodes hitting Cross Rhodes on Jimmy Uso en route to picking up the win for himself and Damien Sandow as the Rhodes Scholars advance to the Semi-Finals. Following a stellar night on RAW, where he pinned Intercontinental Champion The Miz and stared down WWE Champion CM Punk, “The Sin City Cyborg” Ryback went one-on-one with Tensai on SmackDown. In the end, it was Ryback pulling off the seemingly impossible as Ryback hoists the 370 pound Tensai up, delivering Shell Shocked to the huge Superstar en route to picking up the win! Backstage, Randy Orton is on his way to the ring for the main event when “The Viper” is blindsided by Alberto Del Rio, who mugs Orton before ramming an anvil case into Orton’s shoulder and mid-section, leaving “The Viper” lying on the ground, holding his ribs! Moments after Randy Orton was assaulted by Alberto Del Rio backstage, the main event was in peril, but when Orton does not appear for the match, Alberto Del Rio comes out, stating that Orton will not be able to compete and he will take Orton’s place! However, Orton would get his payback as “The Viper” blindsides Del Rio, sending Del Rio face-first into the WWE logo on the stage! Orton then slowly makes his way to the ring, ready to go through with the match. Despite being attacked by Alberto Del Rio moments earlier, the main event would see “The Viper” Randy Orton going one-on-one with “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show with the winner becoming the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title with a title match against Sheamus at Hell in a Cell. Despite being dominated by Big Show throughout the match, Randy Orton was able to come out of nowhere with the RKO, but Big Show was able to kick out! Shortly after this, Big Show would plant Orton with a chokeslam with “The Viper” somehow managing to survive, but an even bigger, second chokeslam would finally put Orton down for the three-count as Big Show punches his ticket and will challenge Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title at Hell in a Cell! After the match, Big Show would not done with Randy Orton as Big Show uses the W.M.D. to knock Orton out cold! Big Show then offers the ominous warning that he will be seeing Sheamus at Hell in a Cell. What did you think of this week’s SmackDown? Post your comments in the box below.
