WWE Spoilers: New Champion Makes HistoryBy Cassidy| July 26, 2012 Wrestling News By virtue of defeating Christian to win the Intercontinental Title on the 1,000th Episode of RAW this past Monday night, The Miz made history by becoming the twenty-fifth WWE Triple Crown Champion in history, having won the WWE Title, Intercontinental Title, and World Tag Team Title. For a Superstar to become a Triple Crown Champion, they must win either the WWE or World Heavyweight Title, the Intercontinental Title, and either the World Tag Team or WWE Tag Team Title (the United States Title does not count towards becoming a Triple Crown Champion). The Miz is among some of the greatest Superstars of all-time as the previous 24 Triple Crown winners, in order from the first, were Pedro Morales (achieved in 1980), Bret Hart (1992), Diesel (1994), Shawn Michaels (1996; has also won every eligible title for the Triple Crown), Stone Cold Steve Austin (1998), The Rock (1999), Triple H (2001; held every eligible title), Kane (2001; held every eligible title), Chris Jericho (2001; held every eligible title), Kurt Angle (2002), Eddie Guerrero (2004), Chris Benoit (2004), Ric Flair (2005), Edge (2006; held every eligible title), Rob Van Dam (2006), Booker T (2006), Randy Orton (2006), Jeff Hardy (2008), CM Punk (2009), John “Bradshaw” Layfield (2009), Rey Mysterio (2009), Dolph Ziggler (2011), Christian (2011), and Big Show (2012; held every eligible title). If John Cena and/or The Undertaker ever hold the Intercontinental Title, then they would earn the Triple Crown. Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston, Santino Marella, Drew McIntyre, and William Regal would need to win either the WWE or World Heavyweight Title to become a Triple Crown Champion.
