WWE: SmackDown Superstar Undergoes Tumor Removal SurgeryBy Cassidy| July 27, 2012 Wrestling News The Wrestling-Online Newsletter is reporting that SmackDown Superstar and former World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali underwent surgery to remove a small tumor from his pituitary gland. Khali had the surgery done at UPMC Presbyterian and the removal took a total of four hours. The tumor is what caused Khali to achieve his seven-foot height and his weight of 347 pounds, though the removal does not mean that Khali will lose either height nor weight. Dr. Joseph Maroon, who was in charge of the surgical team, said that the tumor causes a condition called acromegaly, which can be life-threatening if it goes untreated. WWE Spokesman Adam Hopkins spoke on behalf of the recovering Great Khali, stating that, “As part of our ongoing wellness evaluation, we are happy that The Great Khali had successful pituitary surgery and we look forward to him returning to the ring in the near future.” A spokesperson at the hospital stated that Khali has difficulty speaking due to the surgical packing placed in his nasal cavity during surgery. Khali is scheduled to leave the hospital this weekend, but will be out of action for a few months while he recovers. What do you think of The Great Khali undergoing surgery?
