Detailed Results After successfully defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Daniel Bryan in a stellar 2-out-of-3 Falls Match at Extreme Rules, SmackDown kicks off with World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus. Sheamus states that he “loves to fight” before saying that Daniel Bryan nearly tore his shoulder out at Extreme Rules and when he was asked earlier if he will fight Daniel Bryan, he said “yes”. This brings out “The Yes Man” himself, Daniel Bryan, who makes his way to the ring as Sheamus and the fans repeatedly chant “yes”. The opening match of the night saw a non-title rematch between World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and the new #1 Contender for the WWE Championship at Over The Limit, “The Yes Man” Daniel Bryan. During the match, Sheamus would knock Daniel Bryan out of the ring and this would leave the World Heavyweight Champion open for an attack as Ricardo Rodriguez dives off the top rope into the arms of Sheamus, giving Alberto Del Rio the opportunity to attack Sheamus from behind and lock in the cross armbreaker on the already injured shoulder of Sheamus! After Del Rio releases the hold, Daniel Bryan further injures “The Great White” by locking in the Yes Lock on the same injured shoulder! After Bryan is forced to release the Yes Lock, an argument erupts between Daniel Bryan and Alberto Del Rio. Four nights after defeating Primo & Epico to win the WWE Tag Team Titles on RAW, the new WWE Tag Team Champions, R-Truth & Kofi Kingston, faced Hunico & Camacho in a non-title match on SmackDown, but before the match begins, the former tag champions make their way to the staging area as Primo, Epico, and Rosa Mendes are led out by their new agent, A.W. In the end, it was R-Truth hitting the Little Jimmy on Camacho en route to picking up the win for himself and Kofi Kingston. After watching R-Truth & Kofi Kingston’s win over Hunico & Camacho, when will Primo & Epico, as well as their new agent A.W., choose to enact their rematch clause for the WWE Tag Team Titles? “The Funkasaurus” was in action on SmackDown as Brodus Clay, with his Funkadactyls, Cameron & Naomi, in tow, went one-on-one with “The All-American American” Jack Swagger, with Dolph Ziggler & Vickie Guerrero in his corner. After fighting off interference by Dolph Ziggler, Brodus Clay would go for the Funkasplash, but Jack Swagger would make a hasty exit from the ring, getting himself intentionally counted out to avoid “The Funkasaurus”. With RAW & SmackDown General Manager John Laurinaitis on a “personal day” following his shocking and vicious assault on John Cena on RAW, Executive Administrator Eve tries to calm things down between Daniel Bryan and Alberto Del Rio backstage. Daniel Bryan claims that Sheamus is not hurt that bad before demanding that he face Sheamus later on in the night, but Eve stands firm, saying that she will talk to the WWE doctors and determine for herself if Sheamus will be able to compete before the Executive Administrator orders both Bryan and Del Rio to leave her office. After weeks of intelligent vignettes promising “enlightenment” for the WWE, the self-proclaimed “Intellectual Savior of the Masses” Damien Sandow made his in-ring debut on SmackDown, going one-on-one with NXT Redemption star Derrick Bateman. Before the match, Damien Sandow says the masses need his “enlightenment”, but for him to be a “true role model”, he will not engage Bateman in the ring. Sandow asking the fans if they would learn anything from him facing a “miscreant” like Bateman, who represents the people, concluding that he will not be competing “for the good” of the fans. As Damien Sandow bows out, Derrick Bateman demands that he get a match on SmackDown. Unfortunately for the NXT mainstay, he gets “The Juggernaut” Ryback as his opponent! In the end, it was another dominant victory for Ryback, hitting The Machine Buster on Derrick Bateman en route to picking up an impressive win. After squaring off in their respective matches at Extreme Rules, “The Viper” Randy Orton teams with the former Intercontinental Champion, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show, to face “The Big Red Monster” Kane and new Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes. At the end of a chaotic match, it was Big Show leveling Cody Rhodes with the W.M.D. en route to picking up the victory for himself and Randy Orton. Backstage, an angry Sheamus barges out of the trainer’s room as the bandaged-up World Heavyweight Champion tells Matt Striker that he came to fight and that is what he is going to do! After shocking the world by returning at Extreme Rules to defeat former WWE Diva Nikki Bella to win the Divas Title, new Divas Champion Layla went one-on-one with Natalya in a non-title match on SmackDown. In the end, it was Layla hitting the Lay Out on Natalya en route to picking up the win. Backstage, the humiliation continues for Theodore Long as Executive Administrator Eve forces the employee of John Laurinaitis to rub oil on the body of Antonio Cesaro. How much more can Theodore Long take of this embarrassment? After slapping her best friend, Kaitlyn, last week, A.J. confronts Kaitlyn backstage as A.J. asks for forgiveness, saying that she has been really “lost” lately. Kaitlyn says that she felt “betrayed” last week, but she was just trying to be there for A.J. before telling A.J. that her “pity party” has to stop. A.J. responds by slapping Kaitlyn across the face again, knocking Kaitlyn to the floor! After further injuring the shoulder of Sheamus earlier in the night, the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Alberto Del Rio, was a guest on commentary for the main event as the bandaged-up World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus went one-on-one with the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship, “The Yes Man” Daniel Bryan in a rematch from earlier in the night. During the match, Alberto Del Rio distracts Sheamus, but Sheamus throws Daniel Bryan into Del Rio before Del Rio retreats. With Sheamus’ attention on Alberto Del Rio, Daniel Bryan tries to fly off of the top rope, but Sheamus catches Bryan in mid-air with the Brogue Kick en route to picking up the win, injured shoulder and all! Can Sheamus recover in time to defend the World Heavyweight Title against Alberto Del Rio at Over The Limit? What did you think of this week’s SmackDown? Post your comments in the box below.
