Randy Orton & Kane by pinning Kane following the RKO by Randy Orton to become the new #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title at No Way Out. Detailed Results SmackDown kicks off with the Executive Administrator for the Laurinaitis regime, Eve, who reiterates that John Laurinaitis is still the General Manager of both RAW & SmackDown as the GM pinned John Cena at Over The Limit to cement his “physical superiority”. Eve continues that, due to an international business trip, Laurinaitis is not in the arena, but Laurinaitis left her in charge. The Executive Administrator then says that she will deal with World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus as two things will happen as Sheamus will apologize for shoving Laurinaitis on RAW and she will also reveal the #1 Contender for Sheamus’ World Heavyweight Title at No Way Out. This bit of news brings “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio out, who tries to suck up to the Executive Administrator, before saying he should be named the #1 Contender. Del Rio says that he knows that Eve is “perfect” and Eve wants to make John Laurinaitis proud and she would do that if she names him the #1 Contender. Before Eve can make her decision, Randy Orton interrupts as “The Viper” joins Del Rio and Eve in the ring. Orton offers to let the people decide who the #1 Contender should be, with the fans clearly supporting Orton. This is followed by yet another interruption as “The Big Red Monster” Kane makes his way to the ring. Kane tells Orton and Del Rio that neither of them have the “qualifications” that he does and Sheamus should face him at No Way Out and, if that was not enough, Kane reminded everyone that SmackDown is on its 666th episode, and that represents him as he is “The Devil’s Favorite Demon”. Eve finally makes a decision, announcing that Orton, Del Rio, and Kane will face off in a Triple Threat Match in the main event with the winner earning the right to challenge Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title at No Way Out! After making his surprise return at Over The Limit, dethroning Cody Rhodes to win his fourth Intercontinental Title, new Intercontinental Champion Christian went one-on-one with Hunico, with Camacho in his corner, in a non-title match. In the end, it was Christian hitting the Killswitch and following it up with his signature frog splash en route to picking up the win. After the match, former Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes comes out as Rhodes claims that he spent the last eight months wiping the “dirt” off of the Intercontinental Title after the once prestigious title was sullied by the likes of Santino Marella and he brought meaning to the title again like it had when greats like Randy Savage and Shawn Michaels held it. Rhodes continues that, in one night, Christian “ruined” it, saying that nobody cares about the title because nobody cares about Christian! Rhodes then vows that, when he gets his rematch for the title, he will rectify the situation. Two up-and-coming tag teams squared off on SmackDown as second-generation Superstars Jimmy & Jey Uso faced Darren Young & Titus O’Neil. In the end, it was Darren Young hitting an elbow drop off the second rope on a well-placed Jimmy Uso en route to Titus O’Neil pinning Jimmy to pick up the win for himself and Darren Young. It was announced during SmackDown that next week’s SmackDown will see the long-awaited return of the faceless high flyer, Sin Cara! What will the human highlight reel have in store when he returns to Friday Nights? The undefeated juggernaut was in action on SmackDown as Ryback faced two unknowns in Kevin Bendl & Brian Edwards. In the end, it was Ryback hoisting both Bendl & Edwards up, delivering the Machine Buster to both men before piling the two jobbers up, pinning Brian Edwards to pick up the impressive win. After striking Ricardo Rodriguez down on RAW to do his own ring introduction of Alberto Del Rio, United States Champion Santino Marella would go one-on-one with Del Rio’s personal ring announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, on SmackDown. In a ridiculous match full of chicanery, it was Santino Marella hitting the Cobra Strike on Ricardo Rodriguez en route to picking up the easy win. After finding out earlier in the evening that he would have to apologize for shoving John Laurinaitis on RAW, the World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus made an appearance on SmackDown. Sheamus says that what he did to Laurinaitis on RAW was an “accident”, but some people seem to think that he did it on purpose. The World Heavyweight Champion then gives his “apology”, saying that he apologizes for Laurinaitis being a “massive arse”, adding that, if you look hard enough, you can find Eve and David Otunga wedged up there! Sheamus then apologizes for everyone who kisses Laurinaitis’ “arse”, including Big Show. “The Great White” then says that, of all the possible contenders, he would like to face Randy Orton at No Way Out. Vickie Guerrero then interrupts Sheamus to deliver the news from Eve that the World Heavyweight Champion will go one-on-one with a former champion in “The All-American American” Jack Swagger. Per the orders of Executive Administrator Eve, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus went one-on-one with “The All-American American” Jack Swagger, with Vickie Guerrero in his corner, in a non-title match. In the end, it was Sheamus blasting Jack Swagger with the Brogue Kick en route to picking up the win. One week after being attacked from behind by Damien Sandow, Yoshi Tatsu would go one-on-one with the self-proclaimed “Intellectual Savior of the Masses” Damien Sandow. Before the match, “The Violent Intellectual” introduces himself, saying he was faced with a “conundrum” last week as he was given the option of facing an unworthy opponent or doing the honorable thing of not competing. Sandow continues that he was going to leave without incident last week, but the “dunce”, Yoshi Tatsu, did not “grasp” his teachings and he will physically teach Tatsu a lesson and he will do it for the fans. In his first official match, Damien Sandow dominated Yoshi Tatsu, laying Tatsu out with the straight jacket neckbreaker en route to picking up the win. After shocking the world at Over The Limit by knocking John Cena out and handing a victory to John Laurinaitis to allow Laurinaitis to keep his job, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show appears on SmackDown. Big Show explains that he was not too proud to beg for his job last week, but most people do not love their job like he does. Show continues that, after being fired, Show felt “betrayed” by his friends and the fans, saying that absolutely no one came to his defense when he was fired. Show says that he did not “sell out” and, when no one came to his defense, he realized that he had “no friends” and he was “alone” in the world. Show continues that he did not care where the “lifeline” came from, so he made a deal with John Laurinaitis to get his “life” back by helping Laurinaitis, so he did and he got a new contract, as well as a “big, fat bonus”. Show then says that, all Laurinaitis had to do, was escape the ring at some point during the match, setting the series of actions into motion that saw him knock John Cena out, allowing Laurinaitis to get the win. Show then vows that, at No Way Out, he will knock Cena out again before saying that the fans “never really cared” about him, but now he “damn sure” does not care about them. Big Show then exits the ring, passing former friend and former rival Kane on the way as the two giants’ gaze meet. After Kane makes his way to the ring for the Triple Threat main event, Daniel Bryan comes out of nowhere with a steel chair, absolutely wearing “The Big Red Monster” out with upwards of twenty chair shots, leaving Kane in a heap in the ring! Regardless of Kane’s condition, it was time for the main event as “The Viper” Randy Orton, “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio, and “The Big Red Monster” Kane faced off in a Triple Threat Match with the winner earning the opportunity to challenge Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title at No Way Out. During the match, Kane lays Alberto Del Rio out with a chokeslam, but before Kane can take advantage, he is distracted by a chair-carrying Daniel Bryan. This distraction allows Randy Orton to hit the RKO on Kane, but Alberto Del Rio delivers a kick to the skull of Orton, stealing the pinfall to become the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title at No Way Out! After the match, Alberto Del Rio would have an unexpected meeting with the champion as Sheamus clobbers Del Rio with a double axe handle to the back, leaving Del Rio down on the staging area. Will Sheamus walk out of No Way Out with the World Heavyweight Title intact or is it Alberto Del Rio’s “destiny” to be the new champion? What did you think of this week’s SmackDown?
