WWE: SmackDown Diva in Car Accident on FridayBy Cassidy| May 19, 2012 Wrestling News WWE.com is reporting that SmackDown Diva and valet for Primo & Epico, Rosa Mendes, was involved in a multi-car accident Friday evening, but Rosa was fortunate to only serious whiplash, but no other major injures were reported and Rosa was released from the hospital late last night. The accident involved at least five vehicles, which included the black Hummer Rosa was riding in and was driven by a friend of the Diva, at 6:45PM (local time). The accident was caused by a Mercedes changing lanes, which caused a truck to jackknife, followed by a series of collisions. The collision involved a truck traveling at a high-rate of speed, which collided with the black Hummer that Mendes was a passenger in while the vehicle was at a stoplight. Rosa commented on the wreck this morning, “We were talking when, all of a sudden, I saw in my rear view mirror a truck coming really fast. It jackknifed.” Mendes continued that, “We were the last car hit, so we had the most impact. We slid two car lengths. I didn’t know when it was going to stop. If we weren’t in the Hummer, we would’ve been seriously injured.” Mendes was wearing her seat belt, but the impact of the crash sent Rosa to the floor of the vehicle as she tried to avoid hitting her head on the dashboard. Rosa gave an update on her condition, stating “My neck and back were really hurting. My body is my job. I was so scared that I was not going to be able to wrestle. I was in a lot of pain. Nothing’s broken. I feel like I can wrestle, but the whole right side of my neck and back have a burning sensation. I want [the WWE fans] to know that I’m okay and I’m alive. I’m grateful to be here because it was really, really scary.” Rosa was instructed to rest and recover and she will be following up with WWE physicians soon to check on her recovery progress.
