WWE RAW Results: May 28, 2012

The 992nd edition of WWE Monday Night RAW SuperShow came to you, live on Memorial Day, from the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, LA. With No Way Out just a few weeks away, what will go down between John Cena and John Laurinaitis’ newest, and biggest, hired gun in “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show? How will John Cena respond to being knocked out with the W.M.D. for the second night in a row last week? Also, on last week’s SmackDown, Daniel Bryan shocked everyone in attendance by leaving Kane in a heap in the ring following a tremendous amount of steel chair shots, but to add insult to injury, Bryan re-emerged moments later to cost “The Big Red Monster” his shot at becoming the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. With Daniel Bryan no doubt in his sights, will Kane get his payback on RAW?

• Non-Title: Daniel Bryan (with A.J.) def. CM Punk by pin after dropping CM Punk face-first onto the exposed steel turnbuckle.

Detailed Results

Three weeks before he goes one-on-one with John Cena at No Way Out, RAW kicks off with “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show. Show smiles and says that that is him doing his job and it was easy making the fans smile and, while he enjoyed it, it was a “business decision”. Show says that he no longer has to put on a smile to entertain them because he has an iron-clad contract with a big, fat bonus, thanks to John Laurinaitis. Show then says that he is set for life and that means that he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants and he does not have to be concerned about the fans. Show continues that he is not an entertainer, he is a giant, saying that there is no one in his “league”, not in any sport and not in the WWE. Show says that maybe that is the reason that no one came to his defense when he was forced to beg for his job. Big Show then shows footage of Brodus Clay dancing with the Funkadactyls and several young fans just moments after Big Show was fired two weeks ago. Show says that two guys he thought were his friends, R-Truth & Kofi Kingston, were out in the ring having a good time, saying that it was easy for everyone to “move on”. Show then calls the fans “shallow” and “phony” before saying that there is one man who disappointed him more than anyone else and that is John Cena. Show explains that he thought Cena was going to fight for his friend when he was in the ring with John Laurinaitis two weeks ago, but Cena opted to have a good time in the ring with Laurinaitis, showing footage of Cena having fun at the General Manager’s expense. Show continues that Cena made jokes, saying that he is “one big joke” to all of them and Cena “hurt” him when Cena decided not to care, so he hurt Cena by knocking him out two nights in a row last week. Big Show then says that, at No Way Out, Cena will be across the ring from an “unstoppable giant”. Show concludes that he is going to defeat, punish, and embarrass Cena at No Way Out before Big Show exits the ring.

After embarrassing Alberto Del Rio’s personal ring announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, on SmackDown, United States Champion Santino Marella would have to go one-on-one with the new #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title at No Way Out, “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio, in a non-title match. It was an easy win for Alberto Del Rio as Del Rio forces Santino Marella to tap out to the cross armbreaker to pick up the win.

Backstage, Alex Riley is talking with Executive Administrator Eve when Big Show enters the picture. Eve informs the giant that Show will get to hand-pick his opponent for later on in the evening. Riley immediately gets nervous, thinking that Show will pick Riley as his opponent, but Big Show tells “A-Ry” to relax because he is not picking Riley as his opponent. Show then says that he has a message that he wants Riley to deliver to the rest of the roster before Show hurls Riley into a concrete wall!

The WWE Tag Team Titles were up for grabs on RAW as R-Truth & Kofi Kingston would defend the gold against “The Show-Off” Dolph Ziggler & “The All-American American” Jack Swagger, with Vickie Guerrero in their corner. In the end, it was R-Truth hitting the Little Jimmy on Jack Swagger en route to retaining the WWE Tag Team Titles for himself and Kofi Kingston. After the match, dissention appeared to be in the ranks as Dolph Ziggler blames the loss on Jack Swagger, shouting that he is “better” than losing.

Backstage, Big Show continues to bully the locker room as he grabs the face of Santino Marella, robbing the United States Champion of his air, saying that he might pick Santino for his opponent. However, Big Show is confronted by a man closer to his size in Brodus Clay as “The Funkasaurus” dares Big Show to pick him as his opponent as Clay vows to give Show something else to “cry about”. Show then tells Brodus to forget about dancing because Clay won’t even be able to walk after their match.

Still driving a Hover Round scooter to the ring, the General Manager of RAW & SmackDown John Laurinaitis, along with his Executive Administrator Eve and his legal advisor, David Otunga, carefully makes his way into the ring, using a crutch to do so. The GM announces that, to ensure that there will no interference, the match between John Cena and Big Show will now be a Steel Cage Match! Laurinaitis then claims that he is now the “biggest Superstar” in the WWE before the GM reveals the cover of the newest WWE video game, WWE ’13, which features Laurinaitis on the cover! Laurinaitis proclaims that WWE ’13 will be the biggest game since Pac-Man before he is interrupted by WWE Champion CM Punk. The WWE Champion tells Laurinaitis that the GM is not popular at all before saying that the actual person on the cover of WWE ’13 is much more handsome than Laurinaitis. CM Punk then reveals that he is the cover boy for the new game! Punk tells the GM that his is “bigger”, accusing Eve of looking at it before saying that he can take the “hoeski” and “Carlton” and leave the ring now that his business is finished. Punk then says that Laurinaitis is probably going to try and put him in some sort of lopsided match, but the WWE Champion reminds Laurinaitis that he is already in a match with Daniel Bryan and the GM wishes “good luck”. As Laurinaitis makes his exit, CM Punk puts his boots to the mock WWE ’13 cover.

After failing to defeat CM Punk for the WWE Title at Over The Limit, Daniel Bryan got another chance to prove his merit as he went one-on-one with WWE Champion CM Punk in a non-title match. During the match, Daniel Bryan’s unbalanced ex-girlfriend, A.J., makes her way to ringside, wearing a CM Punk t-shirt. Later on in the match, A.J. distracts the referee, trying to inform the official that Daniel Bryan was removing the turnbuckle pad. This comes into play a few minutes later as Bryan drops CM Punk face-first onto the exposed steel turnbuckle, allowing Bryan to defeat the WWE Champion! After the match, Kane would emerge with a steel chair, driving it into the mid-section of Daniel Bryan before delivering a chokeslam to Bryan on the steel chair! “The Big Red Monster” then sets his sights on CM Punk, but A.J. slides a chair into the ring to Punk as the WWE Champion uses the chair to take down Kane, assaulting the knee and back of Kane, forcing the retreat of “The Big Red Monster”!

Eight nights after returning to the WWE at Over The Limit, Intercontinental Champion Christian went one-on-one with The Miz in a non-title match with Cody Rhodes a guest on commentary. During the match, Christian hits the Killswitch on The Miz, following it up with his patented frog splash en route to picking up the win.

Backstage, John Laurinaitis tells Eve and David Otunga that he needs people he can rely on, bringing up Eve’s failure to get a sincere apology out of Sheamus on SmackDown and David Otunga’s immediate submission to the STF by John Cena last week. In an effort to redeem himself, Otunga volunteers for a match against Sheamus!

After his loss to Christian moments earlier, The Miz is still in the ring as Miz states that he scored the deciding pinfall for Team Johnny at WrestleMania, a victory that made John Laurinaitis the General Manager of both RAW and SmackDown. Despite this, Miz says that he does not have an “iron-clad contract” like Big Show nor is on the cover of WWE ’13. Miz asks where his title match is before saying that he will not leave the ring until he gets an explanation, but Miz is interrupted by “The Viper” Randy Orton, who, without a word, drops Miz with the RKO! Backstage, Dolph Ziggler tells Vickie Guerrero that he wants out of his tag team with Jack Swagger, saying that he wants to be like Orton.

In a blockbuster announcement, this Friday’s SmackDown will feature a WWE Championship match for the first time in eight years as CM Punk defends the WWE Title against “The Big Red Monster” Kane!

In an effort to redeem himself to John Laurinaitis, David Otunga volunteered to go one-on-one with World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus in a non-title match on RAW. In the end, it was Sheamus blasting David Otunga with the Brogue Kick en route to picking up the win.

Before his match against Brodus Clay, Big Show says that he thought he was a “sell-out” when he put on a “diaper” and faced Akebono at WrestleMania, but that is nothing compared to Brodus selling out on a nightly basis. Big Show then says that Brodus could become the next Doink The Clown with the exception that Doink had “talent”! Brodus then exits the ring, ready to fight, but Big Show charges Brodus, spearing “The Funkasaurus” on the outside of the ring. As The Funkadactyls, Cameron & Naomi, helplessly watch from the ring, Big Show sends Brodus Clay into the steel ring post, twice, before Big Show takes apart the announce table. Seeing what Big Show had planned, R-Truth & Kofi Kingston rush out, but Big Show catches Kofi in mid-air and throws him into R-Truth. Big Show then smashed the announce table, using a thick chunk of wood, repeatedly driving it into the back of Brodus Clay. Big Show then gets a hold of R-Truth, slamming Truth against the ring ropes before taking Kofi and hurling him through the ringside barricade and into the timekeeper’s area. Show’s destruction continues as the giant tosses Truth into the steel steps before knocking Brodus Clay out with the WMD!
