WWE: Latest Update on Rey MysterioBy Cassidy| May 24, 2012 Wrestling News The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE has extended Rey Mysterio’s current contract for the amount of time that Rey has been out of action with his original knee injury, in addition to the time he has been out of action with his suspension, which amounts to about a ten or eleven month contract extension. Mysterio has not been seen in the ring since August as he was out for several months with his latest knee injury, but back on April 26, Rey was suspended for sixty days for his second violation of the WWE Wellness Policy. Mysterio will be allowed to return to the WWE any time after June 26, but if Rey fails another drug test, he will be released from his contract per the Wellness Policy. It has previously been reported that, if Rey were to leave the WWE (either on his own or if WWE released him), he would just go back to the Mexican promotion, AAA, but AAA would not be able to pay Mysterio the amount of money that WWE pays him, so odds are, Rey will stay with the WWE and will only leave if he gets released.
