WWE Elimination Chamber 2012 ResultsBy Cassidy| February 20, 2012 WWE PPVs Champion Chamber Survivors. With WrestleMania XXVIII just forty-two days away, “The Show of Shows” will begin to take shape as the third annual WWE Elimination Chamber came to you, live on pay-per-view, from the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI. The WWE Championship would be on the line inside the Elimination Chamber as CM Punk defends the WWE Championship against “The Show-Off” Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, R-Truth, and the guaranteed last entrant into the match, Chris Jericho with the last Superstar remaining emerging from the Chamber as the WWE Champion, guaranteeing him the opportunity to defend the WWE Title at WrestleMania. After weeks of changes to the match, the Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship is finally set as Daniel Bryan defends the gold against “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show, Wade Barrett, Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes, “The Punjabi Giant” The Great Khali, and the Assistant to the SmackDown General Manager, Santino Marella, with the surviving Superstar defending the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania. After weeks of repeated, and increasingly heinous, attacks on Zack Ryder all in an attempt to get John Cena to “embrace the hate”, Kane may get what he wants when “The Big Red Monster” squares off with John Cena in the rarely seen Ambulance Match, where the only way to win is to load your opponent into an ambulance and shutting both doors. On a night where the defending WWE and World Heavyweight Champion for WrestleMania will be determined, the winner of the 2012 Royal Rumble Match, “The Great White” Sheamus will announce which championship he will challenge for on April 1. Also, after making proclamations that she will be the Divas Champion “forever”, Beth Phoenix would be put to the test as “The Glamazon” defends the Divas Championship against the daughter of Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, “The Warrior Princess” Tamina Snuka. Also, the Interim General Manager of RAW John Laurinaitis is expected to make a “huge announcement” at the event, as tweeted by the GM himself. Match Results WWE Championship: Elimination Chamber Match: CM Punk (c) def. The Miz, Chris Jericho, Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, & R-Truth to retain. Divas Championship: Beth Phoenix (c) def. Santino Marella, Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Big Show, & The Great Khali to retain. United States Championship: Jack Swagger (c) def. Justin Gabriel by submission to the ankle lock to retain. Ambulance Match: John Cena def. Kane Detailed Results The show kicks off in a huge way as the opening match of the night saw the WWE Championship defended inside the Elimination Chamber as CM Punk defends the WWE Title against Chris Jericho, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, R-Truth, and Kofi Kingston in the first of two Elimination Chamber Matches and, per his win in a Six-Pack Challenge several weeks ago, Chris Jericho would be the last entrant into the match. Jericho makes his entrance first, followed by The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, and R-Truth, who would all be locked inside the four pods, meaning that WWE Champion CM Punk and Kofi Kingston would start the match. CM Punk and Kofi Kingston would battle in the ring and out on the steel floor, but five minutes would pass and the next Superstar would enter the match as Dolph Ziggler is the first one released from his pod. The second man to be released from his pod was R-Truth as Truth joins Punk, Kofi, and Dolph in the match. The first elimination would come at the hands of CM Punk as the WWE Champion scores with the elbow drop on R-Truth en route to eliminating Truth. With all of the competitors in the match weakened, The Miz would make his entrance into the match. The last man to enter, Chris Jericho, then enters the match, joining Punk, Kofi, Miz, and Dolph. Shortly after Jericho’s entry, Dolph tried to surprise Jericho with a roll-up, but Jericho kicks out and hits the Codebreaker en route to eliminating Ziggler. Later on in the match, Jericho would catch Punk with a thumb to the eye before Jericho locks himself in his pod, but Punk was able to force his way in. However, Jericho would take advantage, using the pod door to assault Punk’s shoulder. Shortly after this, Kofi Kingston would hit the S.O.S. on Chris Jericho on the steel floor of the Chamber. Later in the match, Kofi Kingston manages to hit a double cross body on CM Punk and The Miz, but Chris Jericho would pull Kofi up, locking in the Walls of Jericho on Kofi, forcing Kofi to tap out to eliminate Kingston. However, Jericho would not allow Kofi to leave on his own as Jericho would attack Kofi before hurling Kofi out of the Elimination Chamber. CM Punk then spots an opening as the champion delivers a kick to the skull of Jericho, who falls out of the Chamber, colliding with a cameraman and some equipment, knocking Jericho completely out, which left the referee no choice but to deem Jericho unable to continue as EMT’s would tend to Jericho while CM Punk and The Miz battle in the ring for the gold. CM Punk then survives the best of The Miz, hitting the GTS on Miz en route to eliminating The Miz and retaining the WWE Title! Now the question remains, who will CM Punk defend the WWE Championship against at WrestleMania? The Divas Championship was also up for grabs at WWE Elimination Chamber as “The Glamazon” Beth Phoenix defends the Divas Title against the second-generation competitor, “The Warrior Princess” Tamina Snuka. During the match, Tamina Snuka hits the Superfly Splash on Beth Phoenix, but Phoenix is able to kick out of the finisher and come back in the match as Phoenix hits the Glam Slam en route to retaining the Divas Title. Will any Diva be able to stop the dominant Beth Phoenix? After teasing a “huge announcement” on Twitter, Interim RAW General Manager John Laurinaitis appears with his legal counsel, David Otunga, to make his announcement. The GM reveals that he has convinced the WWE Board of Directors that SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long should be under the same “scrutiny” that he was under. Before Laurinaitis can continue, he is interrupted by the return of a former WWE Champion in “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio! Del Rio makes his way to the ring and states that Theodore Long likes to play “favorites” and hold “grudges”, adding that the SmackDown GM is a “piece of trash” and is “good for nothing”. Del Rio continues that they don’t need people like that in the WWE before telling Laurinaitis that Laurinaitis should be the “permanent” General Manager of both RAW and SmackDown! Then, despite being indefinitely suspended by Theodore Long a few weeks ago, “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry comes out. Mark Henry then gives his testimony, saying Long is a “bully”, alleging that Long “physically assaulted” him. Henry continues that he was “wrongfully suspended” before saying that Laurinaitis has never been a bully and has “never abused” his power, adding that he too believes that Laurinaitis should be the permanent GM of both RAW and SmackDown! Then another surprise takes place as the one and only “Captain Charisma” Christian returns! Christian says that, while Randy Orton “fakes” a concussion, he was forced to compete by Theodore Long when he was legitimately injured and, for that reason, he also believes that Laurinaitis should be named the permanent General Manager of both RAW and SmackDown! Will the Board of Directors see things John Laurinaitis’ way and make him the General Manager of both RAW and SmackDown? Then it was time for the Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship as Daniel Bryan steps inside the structure for the first time ever to defend the World Heavyweight Title against “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show, Wade Barrett, Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes, “The Punjabi Giant” The Great Khali, and Santino Marella. The Great Khali, Cody Rhodes, Santino Marella, and World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan would be the four Superstars to get locked in their respective pods, meaning that Big Show and Wade Barrett would start the match. Five minutes would pass and Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes would be the first man released from his pod, though Rhodes was not eager to face the giant. The second man to be released from his pod was Santino Marella as Santino joins Big Show, Barrett, and Rhodes before The Great Khali joins the fray five minutes later. Khali immediately makes an impact, delivering the Punjabi Plunge to Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett before delivering the Khali Chop to Santino Marella. However, Khali’s roll was short-lived as Big Show strikes with a Spear to Khali en route to eliminating Khali from the match. Big Show would then confront Daniel Bryan, but Bryan would taunt Show, thinking that the angry giant would be unable to get to him. However, Big Show would snap the chains that make up the roof of Bryan’s pod before getting in the pod with the champion! As Show continues to extract his revenge on Bryan, Bryan would officially get released from his pod, but as soon as Bryan got out of the pod, Big Show would send Bryan back in by sending the champion through the wall of the pod! A DDT by Cody Rhodes and an elbow drop by Wade Barrett would be enough to finally bring the giant down as Rhodes pins Big Show to eliminate Show from the match. However, Santino Marella would take advantage of Cody Rhodes’ celebration as Santino rolls Rhodes up to eliminate the Intercontinental Champion from the match. However, Rhodes responds by hitting the Cross Rhodes on Santino, but Santino is still able to kick out of a pin attempt by Wade Barrett. After using the Chamber to take Santino out of the equation, Barrett unleashes his ruthless side as Barrett ravages Daniel Bryan, even slamming one of the pod doors on Bryan’s neck! Despite a brief comeback by Bryan, Barrett would knock Bryan down on the top rope, where Barrett slams Bryan’s head through a pod wall. Shortly after this, Daniel Bryan comes off the top rope with a flying headbutt to Barrett and Santino would steal the pin to eliminate Barrett, leaving only Santino and Bryan in the match. Despite an impressive effort and having the support of the fans, Santino Marella would succumb to the LeBell Lock as Daniel Bryan forces Santino to tap out to retain the World Heavyweight Title. After the match, the winner of the 2012 Royal Rumble Match, Sheamus, comes out and makes the definitive statement that he is after the World Heavyweight Title as Sheamus hits the Celtic Cross on Daniel Bryan! Can Sheamus defeat Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania to become the World Heavyweight Champion? After a confrontation backstage, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long made the match that Jack Swagger, with Vickie Guerrero in his corner, would defend the United States Championship against Justin Gabriel, with Hornswoggle in his corner. In the end, it was Jack Swagger forcing Justin Gabriel to tap out to the ankle lock en route to picking up the win and successfully retaining the United States Title. Then it was time for the main event as, for only the second time in WWE history, an Ambulance Match would take place as John Cena faces “The Big Red Monster” Kane in a match with no pinfalls, no submissions, no disqualifications, and no count-outs as the only way to win is to put your opponent in the back of an ambulance and shutting both doors. During the match, Kane would use his gloved hand to suffocate John Cena and render him unconscious before dragging Cena to the floor and pulling a wheelchair out from under the ring. Kane would then try to wheel Cena to the ambulance, but Cena would manage to snap out of it, fighting back against Kane. Cena then uses the wheelchair as a weapon against Kane before putting Kane in the wheelchair and sending him into some production equipment. Cena and Kane then fight in the pyrotechnical area before brawling through the crowd and back to ringside. Cena then blasts Kane in the head with a monitor as Cena takes apart the Spanish announce table, as well as the steel steps, before twice blasting Kane in the skull with the steps. Cena then sets up the steel steps next to the Spanish announce table with the intent of delivering the Attitude Adjustment, but Kane fights out before delivering a chokeslam to Cena through the table! Kane then retrieves a stretcher, putting Cena on the stretcher before wheeling Cena towards the ambulance. Kane then manages to put Cena in the back of the ambulance, but Cena keeps the doors from being shut before fighting back against Kane. Cena then climbs to the roof of the ambulance and is joined by Kane before Cena delivers the Attitude Adjustment from the top of the ambulance! Cena then carries Kane to the ambulance, loading Kane into the back before shutting both doors to win the match. After overcoming the hate and defeating Kane, John Cena now looks to WrestleMania where he will go one-on-one with The Rock.
