WWE Vengeance 2011 ResultsBy Cassidy| October 24, 2011 WWE PPVs Cena’s dreams of vengeance are collapsed; a titanic confrontation leads to the sinking of the ring. The eighth edition of WWE Vengeance came to you, live on pay-per-view, from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX. After The Miz & R-Truth wreaked absolute havoc for WWE COO Triple H at WWE Hell in a Cell, which led to Triple H being relieved of his duties running RAW, “The Game” Triple H returns to action as he forms an unlikely team with CM Punk to face the reinstated Miz & R-Truth. After Alberto Del Rio locked John Cena out of the Hell in a Cell structure, allowing Alberto Del Rio to take the WWE Title from Cena as Cena watched helplessly, Cena gets his shot at redemption when Cena challenges Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship in a Last Man Standing Match, where the only way to win is to beat your opponent to the point where he is unable to answer the referee’s count. After being cost three months of his career by Mark Henry, Big Show would look to take from Mark Henry what validates the career of “The World’s Strongest Man” as Big Show challenges Mark Henry for the World Heavyweight Championship. After being assaulted and bagged by Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes a few weeks ago on RAW and being cost the World Heavyweight Title by Rhodes that very same week, “The Viper” Randy Orton looked to get his vengeance as he goes one-on-one with his former protégé. Over the past month, Christian has repeatedly cost Sheamus match after match, including a #1 Contender’s Battle Royal for the World Heavyweight Title a few weeks ago, not to mention several Spears by Christian, “The Great White” Sheamus would go one-on-one with “Mr. One More Match” Christian. After the new Interim RAW General Manager John Laurinaitis granted Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger another opportunity at the WWE Tag Team Titles held by Air Boom, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long turned the opportunity into a potential nightmare for Dolph Ziggler as the SmackDown GM made the announcement that Dolph will be competing twice on the same night as Dolph will also defend his United States Title against “The Woo Woo Woo Kid” Zack Ryder. After Beth Phoenix finally defeated her best friend, Kelly Kelly, at WWE Hell in a Cell, two-time Divas Champion Eve challenges “The Glamazon” for the Divas Title. Detailed Results After Vickie Guerrero’s ear-piercing introduction of her two clients, the opening match of the night was for the WWE Tag Team Championship as United States Champion Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger challenge Air Boom, Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston, for the WWE Tag Team Titles in Dolph’s first of two title matches of the night. At the end of a hard-fought match, it was Kofi Kingston hitting Dolph Ziggler with Trouble in Paradise, which puts the United States Champion in the perfect position for the Air Bourne by Evan Bourne en route to Air Boom successfully retaining the WWE Tag Team Titles. Mere moments after being on the wrong end of Trouble in Paradise by Kofi Kingston and Air Bourne by Evan Bourne, Dolph Ziggler, with Vickie Guerrero and Jack Swagger in his corner, would defend the United States Title against “The Long Island Iced Z” Zack Ryder, with WWE Tag Team Champions Air Boom in his corner! During the match, Dolph Ziggler was sent to the outside and, as Dolph tried to crawl away, Air Boom would grab a hold of Dolph and throw him back into the ring. Having seen this, the referee ejects the WWE Tag Team Champions from ringside. Later on in the match, Jack Swagger trips Zack Ryder up on the outside of the ring, leading to Ryder taking Swagger out on the outside. However, the brief distraction allows Dolph to catch Ryder with a super kick en route to successfully retaining the United States Title. Prior to the Divas Title match, a WWE.com exclusive video was shown that depicts Beth Phoenix assaulting Kelly Kelly backstage, leading to a brawl between Eve and the Divas Champion. This backstage anarchy leads to Interim RAW General Manager John Laurinaitis banning both Natalya and Kelly Kelly from ringside for the Divas Title. The Divas Title was on the line at Vengeance as “The Glamazon” Beth Phoenix defends the Divas Title against two-time champion Eve. During the match, Eve used the unique tactic of using Beth Phoenix’s own ring gear to tie the Divas Champion to the middle rope, allowing Eve to land some well-placed kicks to “The Glamazon”. Despite a very impressive effort by Eve, Beth Phoenix takes advantage of a missed Evesault to hit the Glam Slam on Eve en route to retaining the Divas Title. After being repeatedly attacked by Christian over recent weeks, not to mention being cost the World Heavyweight Title on more than one occasion, “The Great White” Sheamus looks for vengeance as he faces “Mr. One More Match” Christian. At the end of a hard-fought match, it was Sheamus catching Christian with the Brogue Kick en route to picking up the win. Then it was time for WWE COO Triple H’s shot at vengeance as “The Game” forms an unlikely alliance with “The Voice of the Voiceless” CM Punk to face the newly reinstated team of The Miz & R-Truth. During the match, Triple H is brawling with R-Truth on the outside of the ring while CM Punk prepares to deliver the GTS to The Miz inside the ring when, out of nowhere, the fired Kevin Nash comes through the crowd and delivers a right hand to Triple H! The appearance of Kevin Nash temporarily distracts CM Punk long enough for R-Truth to come back into the ring as Miz & Truth hit their new double team maneuver, Little Jimmy’s Finale, en route to Miz pinning Punk for the win! While the match was over, the fight on the outside was not as Kevin Nash continues the attack on Triple H, sending his former friend into the steel steps before rolling him into the ring. Nash then polishes off the assault by planting Triple H with a heinous Jackknife Powerbomb. Nash then exits the ring and makes his exit through the crowd as referees tend to Triple H and assisted him from the ring. What is the condition of Triple H following the attack by Kevin Nash? How did the fired Kevin Nash get into the arena? After being assaulted and bagged by Cody Rhodes and cost the World Heavyweight Title by Rhodes a few weeks ago, Randy Orton was looking for revenge as “The Viper” went one-on-one with Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes. During the match, one of Cody Rhodes’ baggers got on the apron of the ring and, while Orton decks the bagger, Rhodes sets up and delivers the Cross Rhodes to Orton, but Orton manages to kick out. The Intercontinental Champion then looks to deliver the ultimate insult to “The Viper” by delivering the RKO, but Orton sees it coming and delivers a dropkick. Orton then sets up for the RKO on Rhodes, but the other bagger gets on the ring apron and is also dropped by “The Viper” before Orton catches a pursuing Rhodes with the RKO en route to picking up the win. Then it was time for the World Heavyweight Title to be defended as “The World’s Strongest Champion” Mark Henry defends the World Heavyweight Title against the man he took out three months ago, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show. After Mark Henry kicks out of the chokeslam and Big Show kicks out of the World’s Strongest Slam, a desperate Mark Henry heads to the top rope, but is caught by Big Show, who delivers a huge chokeslam from the top rope. After Mark Henry kicks out of the chokeslam from the top rope, Big Show decides to try his luck from the top, but is caught by Mark Henry as Henry meets Big Show on the top rope, delivering a superplex to Big Show, a gigantic superplex that even the reinforced steel of the ring could not handle as the ring collapses with the weight and force of the superplex! After the abrupt and shocking end to the World Heavyweight Title match, referees and medical personnel make their way to the remains of the ring to assist both competitors to the back. While EMT’s manage to get Big Show on a cart and wheel him to the back, Mark Henry refuses to accept any help from anyone, repeatedly falling down before finally accepting help as the World Heavyweight Champion miraculously walks to the back on his own power! As Mark Henry is assisted to the back, Interim RAW General Manager John Laurinaitis announces that, despite the imploded state of the ring, the main event for the WWE Championship will still take place at Vengeance. Complete with an imploded ring thanks to Mark Henry and Big Show, it was time for the main event as Alberto Del Rio defends the WWE Championship against John Cena in a Last Man Standing Match, where the only way to win is to beat your opponent to the point where they are unable to make it to their feet by the referee’s count of ten. During the unique match, Alberto Del Rio gets creative as the WWE Champion puts John Cena under the fallen steel ring post before jumping on the post, driving it into the chest of Cena! Later on in the match, John Cena goes to throw Del Rio through the ropes to the outside, but with the ropes collapsed, Del Rio sails through the air and into the barricade at ringside. Later on, the fight continues all the way to the backstage area and, after a close call with a huge anvil case, Del Rio responds by burying Cena under four set pieces made out of steel, but Cena manages to fight out of the rubble to avoid the ten count. Shortly after this, Del Rio and Cena fight back into the entrance area where Del Rio sends Cena crashing through the giant “V” on the set! Del Rio then sets up a table before climbing a piece of the set, but Cena recovers, grabbing Del Rio and pulling him down and through the table. Back in the ringside area, Del Rio tosses Cena over the announce table before taking apart the Spanish announce table, but Cena fights back, sending the WWE Champion into the barricade before delivering a clothesline to Ricardo Rodriguez. Cena then sets up the steel steps next to the Spanish announce table before delivering the Attitude Adjustment to Del Rio through the Spanish announce table! With Alberto Del Rio down on the outside of the ring, John Cena is blindsided in the collapsed ring by The Miz & R-Truth as the duo pummel the #1 Contender. The assault by The Miz & R-Truth on Cena draws the attention of the referee away from counting Del Rio as the referee turns his attention to counting Cena, who barely manages to recover. As soon as Cena makes it to his feet, however, Del Rio blasts the challenger with the WWE Title belt before collapsing on the outside of the ring. While Del Rio barely manages to make it to his feet, Cena is not as fortunate as Cena is unable to make the referee’s count of ten, meaning that Del Rio is victorious and is still the WWE Champion!
