WWE Monday Night RAW August 29, 2011 ResultsBy Cassidy| August 30, 2011 WWE Raw [singlepic id=753 w=233 h=350 float=center] Game on at Night of Champions. The 953rd edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK. After another controversial RAW last week where the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis told WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H that Kevin Nash was involved in a car accident, which led to the COO leaving Laurinaitis in charge so that Triple H could check on his friend’s condition. Then, during the main event, a perfectly healthy Kevin Nash came out and distracted the man he sucker-punched earlier in the night, CM Punk, costing Punk the #1 Contender’s spot for the WWE Title in favor of John Cena earning the opportunity. Did John Laurinaitis lie to Triple H or was the EVP of Talent Relations misinformed? Also, after being assaulted by WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio, what response will new #1 Contender John Cena have on RAW? Match Results Champion vs. Champion: Non-Title: Randy Orton def. Detailed Results After being either misinformed or lied to by the EVP of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis about a car accident Kevin Nash was involved in last week, the show kicks off with the Chief Operating Officer of the WWE, Triple H. The COO states that it is his job to make sure that the WWE “flourishes” before making the major announcement that, for the foreseeable future, the Superstars of RAW will join the Superstars of SmackDown on Monday Nights to create RAW’s SuperShow! After this blockbuster announcement, Triple H says that his position as COO leads to a lot of people lying to him, most notably his good friend Kevin Nash. Triple H continues that Nash is apparently “upset” over not being allowed to be a “man” and fight CM Punk before “The Game” calls Nash to the ring. However, the man who came out was not Kevin Nash, but the man who certainly has a bone to pick with Nash over being cost the #1 Contender’s spot for the WWE Title last week by the big man as former WWE Champion CM Punk comes out. Punk sarcastically compliments Triple H on his “performance”, calling it “Oscar-worthy”. Punk then tells Triple H to stop “acting” and admit that the COO and Kevin Nash are in it together. The familiar music of the former group known as the nWo then blares throughout the arena as Kevin Nash makes his way to the ring. Nash admits that he did lie and have his driver call John Laurinaitis, informing him that he was in a car accident. Nash continues that he had to use their friendship against Triple H to “get rid” of the COO so that he could take care of things with CM Punk. Nash then tells Punk that Punk has tried to “make a fool” out of him in front of everyone and it’s “done”. Nash then states that Punk also insults Triple H and, more importantly, Triple H’s wife before asking the COO what “kind of man” Triple H is! Triple H responds by saying that he is the kind of man that does not expect to be lied to by his best friend, adding that he cannot “trust” Nash anymore when it comes to business before asking Nash to “leave” and “don’t come back”. Nash then informs Triple H and the world that, while Laurinaitis was temporarily in charge last week, the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations signed him to a “very lucrative” WWE contract! Nash then tells the COO that Triple H will have to fire him and, if “The Game” does that, then he can just go home and still get paid. Triple H then tells Kevin Nash that he is not going to fire Nash, but the lying has to stop. CM Punk then dramatically fake vomits all over the ring and then states that he is “acting” like he is sick just like Triple H and Kevin Nash are. Punk then accuses Triple H of having Nash do the work for him before sarcastically calling the signing of Nash a “good acquisition”. Punk then proclaims that the group known as “The Klique” (a behind-the-scenes friendship between Triple H, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Shawn Michaels, and Sean “X-Pac” Waltman that was later revealed on television) is back. Punk continues that “click” is also the noise that the viewers’ remotes make when Nash appears and is also the noise that Nash’s knees make when he walks. Nash then advises Triple H to book the match that everyone wants to see and Punk thinks that he wants with Punk adding that Triple H should make the match for Night of Champions since Nash is a “champion ass-kisser”. Punk then states that Triple H will need to check with the Board of Directors and, by Board of Directors, he means Triple H’s wife. Nash looked ready to punch Punk like he did last week, but Triple H backs Nash up, trying to calm Nash down. Punk then tells Triple H to make the match that Nash thinks he wants, adding that Triple H’s wife runs the show, so Triple H should ask her if it is okay. Punk continues that Triple H’s wife was the one who told the COO to text Nash at SummerSlam before telling Triple H that his wife wears the “pants”, but Triple H does wear her “panties”! Triple H then turns to face CM Punk and makes the match between Punk and Nash official for Night of Champions before telling both Punk and Nash that he’s got two words for them. What will happen when CM Punk and Kevin Nash finally get their hands on each other at Night of Champions? As part of the new RAW SuperShow concept introduced by WWE COO Triple H, the opening match of the night saw Champion vs. Champion as SmackDown’s World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton went one-on-one with RAW’s United States Champion Dolph Ziggler, with Vickie Guerrero in his corner, just one night before Orton defends the title against Christian in a Steel Cage Match on Super SmackDown. During the match, Vickie Guerrero got on the ring apron, distracting Randy Orton long enough for Dolph Ziggler to take advantage. Shortly after this, both champions found themselves on the outside of the ring where Dolph hits the Zig Zag on Orton, hoping to get the count-out victory, but the resilient World Heavyweight Champion manages to make it back in the ring, keeping the match going. At the end of a hard-fought match, it was Randy Orton hitting the RKO on Dolph Ziggler en route to the World Heavyweight Champion picking up the win. Can Randy Orton achieve the same success tomorrow night on Super SmackDown when Orton defends the World Heavyweight Title against Christian inside a Steel Cage? After being assaulted by WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio moments after his main event victory over CM Punk, the new #1 Contender for the WWE Title at Night of Champions, John Cena, made an appearance on RAW. Cena states that Alberto Del Rio’s actions have been louder than his words as his “words” have touted himself as an honorable champion, but his “actions” have shown that Del Rio is a “coward champion”. Cena continues that his reaction to Del Rio’s attack is to kick Del Rio’s teeth down his throat. Cena then calls out the WWE Champion, but the #1 Contender for the WWE Title gets the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Mark Henry, instead. “The World’s Strongest Man” states that he has dismantled Kane, Big Show, and several others over recent weeks before reminding Cena that he gave the World’s Strongest Slam to Sheamus on the steel steps on SmackDown. Mark Henry then threatens that Cena will be joining those individuals in his “hall of pain”, just like whoever the World Heavyweight Champion will be after Super SmackDown as he will challenge either Randy Orton or Christian for the gold at Night of Champions before guaranteeing that he will be the World Heavyweight Champion after Night of Champions. This brings out the former World Heavyweight Champion, Christian, who states that he will beat and embarrass Randy Orton inside the Steel Cage and become the World Heavyweight Champion. Christian then tells Cena that Cena makes him sick because he cannot stand someone who “whines” every week until they get what they want, telling Cena that he is an “embarrassment” and is embarrassing himself. Cena then states that he does not whine before doing a routine of fake whining where he asks why Christian gets sprayed in “orange fake tan” or why Mark Henry’s breath “smells like funnel cakes stuffed with dog crap”. Cena then tells the both of them if they want some, to get some, but if they don’t, then “get gone”. Christian then tells Mark Henry that Henry should not take that, saying that there are two of them and one of Cena. This brings out Sheamus, who stands by the side of John Cena as all four Superstars look ready to fight. However, Christian opts to leave the ring shortly before Mark Henry does the same. Backstage, the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis, is talking to referee Charles Robinson, saying that he is making a tag match pitting the team of John Cena and Sheamus against Christian & Mark Henry. However, WWE COO Triple H comes in and tells the EVP that he already made that match before reminding Laurinaitis that Laurinaitis works for him and he is Laurinaitis’ boss! After learning earlier in the night that he will go one-on-one with Kevin Nash at Night of Champions, “The Cult of Personality” CM Punk went one-on-one with “The Awesome One” The Miz on RAW. Just when it looked like CM Punk was poised for victory, The Miz’s new associate, R-Truth, interferes. Punk hoists R-Truth up for the GTS, but Miz comes from behind as Miz and R-Truth throw Punk to the outside. However, Punk dodged a shot from The Miz before taking R-Truth down and throwing Miz into the ringside barricade. Punk then rolls Truth into the ring and delivers the GTS to Truth, but as this goes down, Kevin Nash makes his way to the ring. Nash slowly ascends the steps, but the appearance of Kevin Nash distracts Punk long enough for Miz to come from behind as The Miz pummels Punk while Nash enters the ring. Miz and Truth stomp way at Punk, but back away as the two of them cautiously watch Kevin Nash as Nash plants Punk with the Jackknife Powerbomb! How will CM Punk respond to Kevin Nash laying him out following a two-on-one attack by The Miz and R-Truth? One night before he goes one-on-one with WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio on Super SmackDown Live, SmackDown’s “International Sensation” Sin Cara went one-on-one with “The All-American American” Jack Swagger. During the match, Vickie Guerrero comes out to observe her potential new clientele, Jack Swagger, but United States Champion Dolph Ziggler comes out and gets on the ring apron, distracting Swagger long enough for Sin Cara to take advantage, hitting the Senton & Lionsault to pick up the win. One week after becoming the new WWE Tag Team Champions, the team (as voted on by the WWE fans on Twitter) now known as Air Boom, Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston made their first defense of the WWE Tag Team Titles against the team they took the gold from, David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty. In the end, it was Kofi Kingston hitting Trouble in Paradise on Michael McGillicutty en route to Air Boom making a successful title defense. After the match, Otunga & McGillicutty confronted the man who has called them “boring” the last couple of weeks, RAW commentator and Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler. The former WWE Tag Team Champions tell Lawler to watch his mouth, accusing the commentator of costing them the match. Otunga then snatches the headset off of Lawler’s head and throws it at “The King” before both men stare each other down. The Divas were in action on RAW as Divas Champion Kelly Kelly, with Eve in her corner, went one-on-one with former Divas Champion Brie Bella, with her twin sister Nikki Bella in her corner, in a non-title match. During the match, The Bella Twins pulled their Twin Magic as Nikki Bella switched places with Brie Bella behind the referee’s back, which allowed Nikki Bella to hit the Bella Buster on Kelly Kelly en route to picking up the win over the Divas Champion for her twin sister. Then it was time for the main event as the #1 Contender for the WWE Title at Night of Champions, John Cena, teamed with “The Great White” Sheamus to face the team of former World Heavyweight Champion Christian and the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title at Night of Champions, “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry. At the end of a chaotic match, it was John Cena hitting the Attitude Adjustment on Christian en route to picking up the win for himself and Sheamus. Backstage, CM Punk confronts WWE COO Triple H, who informs CM Punk that he was told by the WWE Board of Directors that Punk’s match with Kevin Nash at Night of Champions has been “cancelled”, because, at Night of Champions, CM Punk will go one-on-one with “The Game” himself! For the first time since WrestleMania XXVII, WWE COO Triple H will be in action as the thirteen-time World Champion will go one-on-one with CM Punk at Night of Champions.
