WWE Monday Night RAW August 22, 2011 ResultsBy Cassidy| August 23, 2011 WWE Raw Questions and controversy continue as RAW heads to Canada. The 952nd edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. As the WWE heads North, the landscape of RAW is still trembling from last week’s SummerSlam and subsequent RAW as allegations about WWE COO Triple H’s involvement in Kevin Nash’s attack on CM Punk at SummerSlam continue to be made with different stories being told by the longtime friends, Triple H and Kevin Nash. Match Results Non-Title: Alberto Del Rio def. John Morrison by submission to the cross armbreaker. Eve def. Nikki Bella (with Brie Bella) by pin following a modified neckbreaker. Alex Riley (with Dolph Ziggler) def. Jack Swagger by roll-up. WWE Tag Team Championship: Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston def. David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty (c) by Evan Bourne pinning David Otunga (c) following Air Bourne to win the WWE Tag Team Titles. #1 Contender’s Match for the Undisputed WWE Title: John Cena (with Kevin Nash) def. CM Punk by pin following the Attitude Adjustment to become the #1 Contender for the Undisputed WWE Title at Night of Champions. Detailed Results After his stellar week last week where he cashed in his Money-in-the-Bank briefcase to become the Undisputed WWE Champion at SummerSlam and followed it up with a successful title defense against Rey Mysterio on RAW and taking Rey out of action for months with his cross armbreaker before visiting SmackDown, where he defeated Daniel Bryan, the show kicks off with the Undisputed WWE Champion, Alberto Del Rio. However, before the Undisputed WWE Champion can even begin to speak, Alberto Del Rio is interrupted by the man who has his sights set on the Undisputed WWE Title, John Cena. Cena tells Del Rio that they all know who Del Rio is before introducing himself to Del Rio and stating that he is going to take the Undisputed WWE Title away from Del Rio, adding that he also plans to “hurt” Del Rio. Cena continues that he is going to hurt Del Rio so badly that Del Rio will run back to his parents’ house, so Del Rio does not have to come out there every week with his “flea market scarves”, his “below average hired help”, or his “rented luxury cars”, adding that Del Rio does not even know the name of the car he drove into the arena. Cena continues that Del Rio is a “target” and he is tired of trying to make “average seem awesome” because there is only “one man” in the WWE who can go toe-to-toe with him before saying that Del Rio is “not CM Punk”, meaning he will whip Del Rio’s ass! This brings out the man who was attacked by Kevin Nash at SummerSlam, ultimately allowing Alberto Del Rio to cash in Money-in-the-Bank to take the Undisputed WWE Title from him as CM Punk comes out. Punk states that it feels like a “rerun” with John Cena asking for a rematch for the WWE Title, adding that they are not going to do that because he has already defeated Cena twice in “high pressure situations”, so if anyone is going to get a title shot, it’s going to be him. Del Rio then jumps in and states that this is his time because he is the WWE Champion before Punk tells Del Rio not to interrupt, saying that he does not have a problem with Del Rio cashing in Money-in-the-Bank to win the title. Punk continues that, what he does have a problem with, is that the whole thing is some sort of “concentrated effort” between WWE COO Triple H, Kevin Nash, and Alberto Del Rio to “screw” him over. Punk continues that both he and Cena have had problems with Triple H as he made fun of Triple H’s wife, Stephanie McMahon, to her face at SummerSlam before Nash got the text that told him to take the winner of the Undisputed WWE Title match out. Punk then tells Cena that the text would have led to Nash attacking Cena, had Cena won the Undisputed WWE Title at SummerSlam. Punk continues that “somebody” wants Alberto Del Rio to be the champion “really, really bad” and Del Rio argues that it is “destiny”, but Punk says that getting his rematch for the WWE Title is what Del Rio means by “destiny” with Cena arguing that he is going to get his rematch. Del Rio then says that he is “ignoring” both Cena and Punk because he successfully retained the WWE Title last week and he plans to celebrate. Del Rio then tells Punk to stop “crying like a little girl” before being interrupted by the controversial Chief Operating Officer of the WWE, Triple H, interrupts and joins the three men in the ring. WWE COO Triple H first tells Undisputed WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio to wipe the smile off his face because the champion will be in action in the opening match. Triple H then addresses John Cena and CM Punk, telling them that rematches are not like Money-in-the-Bank as they can’t just “cash them in” whenever they feel like it and, as the COO, it is his job to determine rematches. The COO then announces that, at Night of Champions, Alberto Del Rio will defend the Undisputed WWE Title against the winner of the main event as CM Punk goes one-on-one with John Cena! Who will get their rematch for the Undisputed WWE Title at Night of Champions, CM Punk or John Cena? It was announced during RAW that, after Mark Henry sent Sheamus through the ringside barricade at SummerSlam, leading to a count-out win, the rematch will take place this Friday night on SmackDown as “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry goes one-on-one with “The Great White” Sheamus. What will happen when these two destructive powerhouses collide on SmackDown? Per the orders of WWE COO Triple H, the opening match of the night saw Undisputed WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio going one-on-one with “The Prince of Parkour” John Morrison in a non-title match. At the end of an impressive match where John Morrison narrowly missed pinning the Undisputed WWE Champion on several occasions, it was Alberto Del Rio dodging Starship Pain before sending Morrison shoulder-first into the ring post and locking in the cross armbreaker, forcing Morrison to tap out. After the match, Del Rio locked in the cross armbreaker on Morrison again, this time on the outside of the ring, only relinquishing the hold when forced by the referee. After defeating and punishing John Morrison, Alberto Del Rio will no doubt have a close eye on the main event, but who will challenge Del Rio for the Undisputed WWE Title at Night of Champions, CM Punk or John Cena? The Divas were in action on RAW as Eve, with Divas Champion Kelly Kelly in her corner, went one-on-one with Nikki Bella, with Brie Bella in her corner. In the end, it was Eve overcoming interference from Brie Bella to deliver a modified neckbreaker to Nikki Bella en route to picking up the win. After the match, the Divas Champion got in on the action as Kelly Kelly plants Brie Bella with the K2. This brings out the Divas of Doom, Natalya & Beth Phoenix, who sarcastically applaud Eve & Kelly Kelly, much like last week. After being advised to expand her stable as a manager, Vickie Guerrero made an appearance on RAW to introduce a “potential new client” and the Superstar who gave her the idea to manage multiple Superstars, “The All-American American” Jack Swagger, who went one-on-one with Alex Riley in a rematch from last week. During the match, United States Champion Dolph Ziggler comes out to confront Vickie Guerrero, telling Vickie that she does not need any other clients besides him. During this argument, the United States Champion inadvertently knocked Vickie down, which draws the attention of Jack Swagger, who heads to the outside of the ring, arguing with Dolph Ziggler before shoving the United States Champion. Swagger then re-enters the ring, but the distraction allowed Alex Riley to catch Swagger with a roll-up to win the match. With questions and allegations abound over his involvement and knowledge about Kevin Nash’s attack on CM Punk at SummerSlam, the Chief Operating Officer of the WWE, Triple H, appeared on RAW in an attempt to set the record straight about the whole situation. The COO reveals that he and Kevin Nash have spoken and they have it all behind them, but he wants Nash to come out there so they can explain it to the fans. Triple H’s good friend, Kevin Nash, then makes his way to the ring. Triple H states that Kevin Nash received a text to lay CM Punk out at SummerSlam, but that the text did not come from him. The COO continues that he wants all of them to know that there is no “conspiracy”. Nash then says that he believes Triple H when he says that “The Game” did not send him that text, but he thought he was doing Triple H a “favor”. Nash continues that he was going to come out there and “apologize” to CM Punk, but after thinking about what Punk said to him last week, he changed his mind. Despite Triple H lowering Nash’s microphone to tell him to “not do this”, Nash continues on, saying that he appreciates that Triple H will not change his “position” and that Triple H is the COO, but pleads with his friend to let him be a “man”. Triple H states that he understands that Punk crossed the line last week, telling Nash that Nash does not work for the WWE, so he can’t just “call guys out”. Kevin Nash then tells Triple H that he does not work there, so he does not have to take CM Punk’s “crap” and he does not have to get him over before saying that the line of security guards that separated him and Punk last week was for Punk, adding that he would have “killed” Punk had it not been for security. Triple H says that he understands Nash’s position on the subject, but reiterates that Nash does not work for the WWE, so he cannot call guys out. Triple H continues that Nash can fight Punk at a bar across the street, but he cannot do it in the ring before asking Nash to leave! However, much to the chagrin of the COO, CM Punk comes out, saying he wants to get to the bottom of who sent the text to Nash at SummerSlam. Punk continues that they are going to play a game of “Clue” before asking if it was “Big Lazy with a giant tube of Just for Men in the Conservatory” or if it was Triple H, “backstage with his trusty sledgehammer” or if it was Stephanie McMahon. Punk continues that he does not believe what either of them are saying, telling Nash that he should have just “apologized” last week. Punk then states that he is a “habitual line-stepper” and Nash is one too before saying that he is done talking, adding that Nash “got off lucky” last week and, now he is going to kick Nash’s ass! CM Punk then enters the ring with the intent of doing just that, but Triple H steps in between Punk and Kevin Nash, making Punk step back. Punk responds by telling Triple H to get his hands off of him, saying that the COO has had it out for him since day one. Punk then gets in the face of Triple H, asking “The Game” why Triple H is so “scared” of him being the WWE Champion. Punk then asks Triple H who’s “really pulling the strings”, Triple H, Kevin Nash, or Triple H’s “bean-head wife”. Triple H responds by telling Punk that Punk may be a line crosser and that he made a promise to the WWE Board of Directors and the world that he would not get physically involved, but tells Punk “not to make the mistake” of thinking that he is “not the same damn guy” that he has always been, adding that, if Punk crosses a line with him, he will leave Punk where he stands. Punk then tells Triple H that he would hate to see the COO take off his fancy suit and put it in his wife’s purse right next to his cell phone, as well as his “balls”! Apparently having heard enough, Kevin Nash delivers a right hand to the side of the head of an unsuspecting Punk, leaving Punk smiling as Triple H and Nash quickly leave the ring! After Kevin Nash delivered a right hand to CM Punk in the middle of the ring, WWE COO Triple H and Kevin Nash are backstage as Triple H tells Nash that Nash cannot put his hands on Superstars before asking his friend to leave. Nash responds by telling Triple H that the COO has “changed” before Nash takes his leave. After defeating the WWE Tag Team Champions on last week’s RAW, the new team of Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston got their shot at the gold as Bourne & Kofi challenged David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty for the WWE Tag Team Titles. In the end, it was Kofi Kingston hitting the Trouble in Paradise on David Otunga from the apron of the ring, leaving Otunga prone to an Air Bourne by Evan Bourne en route to Bourne pinning Otunga en route to Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston being crowned the new WWE Tag Team Champions! How will the exciting and high-flying team of Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston fare as the WWE Tag Team Champions? Backstage, WWE COO Triple H is confronted by the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis, as Laurinaitis rushes up to Triple H to inform the COO of some shocking news, that Kevin Nash was involved in a car accident moments earlier! The EVP then gives Triple H the name of the hospital that Nash was rushed to, but before leaving, Triple H asks Laurinaitis if the EVP can handle the rest of the show, which Laurinaitis assures the COO that he does. What is the condition of Kevin Nash following this car accident? Santino Marella was set for action on RAW, but before Santino could even make it to the ring, he was blindsided by The Miz & R-Truth as the duo assaults Santino on the ramp. Miz & Truth then roll Santino into the ring where R-Truth hits the Shut Up on Marella before The Miz adds to it with the Skull Crushing Finale. Following the attack, R-Truth says that he has been saying for a long time that there has been a “conspiracy” going on, accusing Triple H, Kevin Nash, John Cena, Stephanie McMahon, and CM Punk of sitting down to “conspire”. Truth continues that, now that Triple H is in charge, it’s no longer about either of them. The Miz agrees with R-Truth about their being a “conspiracy” in the WWE because he was in the main event of WrestleMania, where he defeated John Cena. Miz continues that, with Triple H in charge, he had to “pick a fight” with “The Subway Guy”, Jarod, last week just to get on RAW. Miz then proclaims that he is sick of seeing guys like Santino Marella, who haven’t “won a match in five years”, getting a spot on RAW and he does not. Miz continues that he and R-Truth are sick of being “underutilized” and sick of being denied “opportunities”, so they are just going to “take” their opportunities from now on! What kind of impact will The Miz & R-Truth have on RAW? Then it was time for the main event as, amidst the emotional, controversial, and puzzling events of RAW, “The Best In The World” CM Punk would go one-on-one with John Cena as the familiar rivals compete with the winner being named the #1 Contender for the Undisputed WWE Title at Night of Champions with the champion, Alberto Del Rio, and the man in charge during Triple H’s absence, the EVP of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis, both at ringside for the match. During the intense battle for the #1 Contender’s spot, CM Punk looked to be closing in on a victory as he hoisted John Cena up for the GTS, but before Punk could deliver the finishing blow, the voice of Kevin Nash rings out! Nash then makes his way towards the ring, telling Punk that it’s not over yet and the re-emergence of Kevin Nash distracts CM Punk long enough for John Cena to take advantage as Cena hits the Attitude Adjustment on Punk en route to picking up the win to become the #1 Contender for the Undisputed WWE Title at Night of Champions! After the match, Undisputed WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio rushes into the ring, attacking John Cena as Del Rio delivers an enzinguiri to Cena, following it up with right hands to the #1 Contender. However, John Laurinaitis enters the ring as the man temporarily placed in charge of RAW by Triple H, along with a referee, pulls Del Rio off of Cena, holding Del Rio back in the corner. The champion manages to break free, getting a few shots in on Cena before Del Rio is once again pulled off of Cena. Del Rio then manages to break free yet again, delivering a shot with the WWE Title belt to Cena before taking Cena to the outside of the ring and tossing the #1 Contender into the ringside barricade before being restrained for the third time by the referee and Laurinaitis! How will John Cena respond to this post-match attack by Alberto Del Rio? Can John Cena take the Undisputed WWE Title away from Alberto Del Rio at Night of Champions? After being informed by John Laurinaitis that Kevin Nash was involved in a car accident, Triple H left the arena to check on Nash, who Laurinaitis said was in the hospital. However, during the main event, a perfectly healthy Kevin Nash walked out, distracting CM Punk and allowing John Cena to win the match, all while John Laurinaitis, who had been placed in charge by Triple H, sat at ringside. Much like last week, there are a lot of questions to be answered. After it became clear that Kevin Nash was not in a car accident, much less in the hospital, how will WWE COO Triple H respond to being misinformed? How will CM Punk respond to getting screwed out of his rematch for the Undisputed WWE Title by Kevin Nash? What did you think of this week’s RAW? Post your comments in the box below.
