WWE WrestleMania 27 ResultsBy Cassidy| April 4, 2011 WWE PPVs The place where legends are made and moments are forever etched in the annals of WWE history, it was finally time for the biggest event of the year as World Wrestling Entertainment would present WrestleMania XXVII which came to you, live, from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA! After an absence of seven years, the one, the only “Great One” would return to WrestleMania as “The Most Electrifying Man in Showbiz” The Rock would serve as WrestleMania Host! Two names are synonymous with greatness in the WWE and those two legendary Superstars would go head-to-head in an epic and unforgettable encounter as “The Game” Triple H will do whatever it takes to do what no man has ever been able to at WrestleMania by defeating The Undertaker at WrestleMania in a No Holds Barred match! After weeks of being the victim of physical assaults by The Miz and verbal berating by The Rock, John Cena would turn his focus to the WWE Championship as Cena would challenge the self-proclaimed “Most Must-See WWE Champion in History” The Miz for the WWE Title! Since winning the biggest Royal Rumble Match in history in January, Alberto Del Rio has proclaimed that becoming the World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania is his “destiny”, but World Heavyweight Champion Edge refuses to allow his “legacy” to be replaced by Del Rio’s “destiny” as Edge will have his best friend, Christian, in his corner to even the odds when he defends the World Heavyweight Title against Alberto Del Rio, with Del Rio’s “protégé” Brodus Clay in his corner! Two years ago, Randy Orton punted CM Punk in the skull, costing Punk the World Heavyweight Title and, two years later, CM Punk has targeted Randy Orton and Orton’s family with revenge on his agenda and, at WrestleMania, these two would square off as “The Viper” Randy Orton would go one-on-one with “The Straightedge Savior” CM Punk! Ever since inadvertently hitting Cody Rhodes with his metal knee brace a couple of months ago, Rey Mysterio has been the victim of vicious assaults by Rhodes and, at WrestleMania, these two would go one-on-one as Rey Mysterio would face Cody Rhodes! After weeks of personally insulting the family of Jerry “The King” Lawler and utilizing Jack Swagger in assaults on the Hall of Famer, Jerry Lawler would get his shot at revenge as “The King” would go one-on-one with the self-proclaimed “Voice of the WWE” Michael Cole, with Cole’s trainer Jack Swagger in his corner, with Stone Cold Steve Austin as the Special Referee! In a match that the entertainment world has been buzzing about, Jersey Shore star Snooki would team with Tough Enough trainer and WWE legend Trish Stratus and “The Prince of Parkour” John Morrison to face former co-Divas Champions LayCool and former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler in a 6-Person Mixed Tag Match! After weeks of being assaulted and demolished by The Corre, the odds would be evened up at WrestleMania as “The Big Red Monster” Kane, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show, and former WWE Tag Team Champion Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov would join forces to combat The Corre; Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, and WWE Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel in an 8-Man Tag Match! Detailed Results After an emotional and stunning rendition of “America The Beautiful” by Atlanta’s own Keri Hilson, the grandest event of the year kicks off with “The Most Electrifying Man in Showbiz” as WrestleMania Host The Rock kicks off “The Show of Shows”! The Rock proclaims that WrestleMania XXVII will be the “most memorable WrestleMania of all time” before turning his attention to John Cena by stating that Cena is backstage deciding what “Fruity Pebbles” colors to where to the ring! The Rock then proclaims that it is “The Showcase of the Immortals” and The Rock will “bring it all over Atlanta” before stating that his signature catch phrase belongs to the “people” before asking the people to “assume the position” and proclaim with him, “if you smell what The Rock is cooking”! What else does The Rock have in store in his grand return to WrestleMania? The opening match of the night would be a huge one as the winner of the 2011 Royal Rumble Match, Alberto Del Rio, with his protégé, Brodus Clay, in his corner would compete in his first WrestleMania as Del Rio would challenge Edge, with Christian in his corner, for the World Heavyweight Title! During the match, Alberto Del Rio’s personal ring announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, would get involved in the match, which would prompt Christian to rush around the ring and attack Rodriguez, but Brodus Clay would intercept “Captain Charisma” and deliver a fallaway slam to Christian on the outside of the ring! Shortly after this, Rodriguez would distract the referee, allowing Brodus Clay to pull the shoulder of Edge into the steel ring post, allowing Del Rio to lock on the cross armbreaker, but Edge would hang on and would get out of the submission and lock in his Edgeucator submission! With Christian taking Brodus Clay out on the outside of the ring, Alberto Del Rio would get out of the Edgeucator, but Edge would strike suddenly with the Spear as Edge would pin Alberto Del Rio, overcoming Del Rio’s “destiny” to retain the World Heavyweight Title on the grand stage of WrestleMania! After the match, Edge would leave the ring, but would spot the lavish $100,000 car of Alberto Del Rio and, after delivering kicks to the expensive car, Christian would come out with a crowbar and a lead pipe and, with the crowbar, Edge would proceed to completely total the expensive ride of Alberto Del Rio, leaving Del Rio on the brink of tears! After being inadvertently forced to have reconstructive surgery on his face due to an accidental knee brace shot by Rey Mysterio, Cody Rhodes would go one-on-one with the man who he has viciously assaulted on two separate occasions in the Captain America clad “Ultimate Underdog” Rey Mysterio! During the match, the protective mask that Cody Rhodes has been using as a weapon would come off and Rey Mysterio would hit the 619 on Rhodes and would follow it up with a kick to the unprotected face of Rhodes, but Rhodes would still kick out! After this, Rey would put on the protective mask of Cody Rhodes and would attack Rhodes with various shots to the head, but Cody Rhodes would find himself on the outside of the ring where Rhodes would pull a steel knee brace from under the ring and would waylay Mysterio with the weapon, which would allow Rhodes to hit Cross Rhodes on Mysterio en route to picking up a big win on the grandest stage of them all! After weeks of being assaulted and destroyed by the dominant group known as The Corre, “The Big Red Monster” Kane, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show, and former WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov were scheduled to combat The Corre, but after an apparent assault by the ruthless group during WrestleMania Axxess, Vladimir Kozlov would be unable to compete, but former Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston would join forces with Kane, Big Show, & Santino Marella to combat The Corre; Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, and WWE Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel in a huge 8-Man Tag Match! In a dominant display by Kane, Big Show, Santino Marella, & Kofi Kingston, Kofi would hit Trouble in Paradise on Wade Barrett before diving to the outside of the ring, taking out Ezekiel Jackson and Justin Gabriel! This would leave Heath Slater to get hit with the Cobra Strike by Santino Marella and, after being blasted with the Knockout Punch by Big Show, Big Show would pin Slater to pick up the win for his team! Backstage, WrestleMania Host The Rock would be talking with Divas Champion Eve as The Rock tells Eve that he can make a memorable WrestleMania “moment” with absolutely anyone who walks up to him! Upon turning around, The Rock would see that Hall of Famer Mae Young was the first to walk up to him as Mae tells the WrestleMania Host that she wants some of The Rock’s “strudel”, which would lead to the feisty Mae giving Rock a smack on the backside! After having Eve escort Mae Young to her seat, WrestleMania Host The Rock states that it couldn’t have been “anyone else” coming around the corner and, upon turning around again, The Rock would come face-to-face with his most legendary rival, Stone Cold Steve Austin! The former WrestleMania main eventers would lock eyes as Rock asks Austin is Austin is ready to “kick some ass” and Austin says that he “always” is and Austin asks Rock the same and Rock states that he is and tells Austin that Austin should “remember” that he is always ready to “bring it”! The intense face-off then ends with the two legends shaking hands without taking their eyes off of each other! In his quest for revenge for a punt to the skull that cost him the World Heavyweight Title two years ago, CM Punk has targeted Randy Orton and, after Orton completely eradicated Punk’s New Nexus over recent weeks, Punk made things even more personal by assaulting Orton in front of Orton’s wife, but on the grand stage of WrestleMania, their intense rivalry would come to a head as “The Viper” Randy Orton would go one-on-one with “The Straightedge Savior” CM Punk! During the match, the bout would spill to the outside, where CM Punk would deliver a dropkick to the steel steps, sending the steel steps right into the injured right knee of Randy Orton! During the match, Randy Orton would look ready to hit the RKO on CM Punk, but would opt to go for the punt instead! However, Orton’s injured knee would give out on him, but Orton would still attempt the RKO only for Punk to narrowly escape! CM Punk would look to take advantage of Randy Orton’s vulnerable state as Punk ascended the top rope, but Orton would catch Punk in mid-air with the RKO en route to picking up the win! Before Jerry “The King” Lawler would go one-on-one with Michael Cole with Stone Cold Steve Austin as the Special Referee, it would be announced that SmackDown Color Commentator Booker T and WWE Hall of Famer “Good Ol’ J.R.” Jim Ross would join Josh Mathews at ringside as commentators for the match! As Jim Ross made his way to the announce table, Michael Cole would come out and, with his matching orange ring gear featuring amateur wrestling headgear, a singlet, and an orange hooded sweatshirt bearing the name “Team Cole”, Cole would berate both Jim Ross and his opponent, Jerry Lawler, by saying that both Hall of Famers are “overweight, overrated, and over the hill”! Cole continues that he has been thinking about the WrestleMania match for the last twenty-four hours and states that Jerry Lawler’s career has been longer than he’s been alive and they are both competing in their first WrestleMania! Cole then tells Jim Ross that, after the match is over, J.R. will go back to “making really bad barbecue sauce” and Stone Cold Steve Austin will raise his hand in “victory” and, then, everyone will crown him as the “new Mr. WrestleMania”! As Michael Cole’s trainer, Jack Swagger, makes his way to the ring to be in the corner of Michael Cole for his match, Swagger’s entrance would be cut short with the arrival of the Special Referee for the match, Stone Cold Steve Austin as Austin roars down the entrance ramp on his signature four-wheeler, narrowly avoiding a collision with Jack Swagger before chasing Michael Cole into the “Cole Mine”! The time for talk was over as, with Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin serving as the Special Referee, Jerry “The King” Lawler would compete in his first WrestleMania match as Lawler would square off with the self-proclaimed “Voice of the WWE” Michael Cole, with trainer Jack Swagger in his corner! With Michael Cole still taking refuge in his “Cole Mine”, Stone Cold Steve Austin would ring the bell for the match to start, leading to Jerry Lawler heading out to retrieve Cole! When faced with battling Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole would try to apologize and make amends with the Hall of Fame and Lawler would shake the hand of Cole, but would pull the arm of Cole, repeatedly smashing Cole’s head into the side of the “Cole Mine” before climbing into the “Cole Mine” and attacking Cole before getting Cole out of his protective cage and into the ring! Jack Swagger would then attack Jerry Lawler, locking in the ankle lock on Lawler on the outside before sending the Hall of Famer back into the ring where Cole would work over the ankle of “The King”! During the match, Jerry Lawler would stomp away at Michael Cole, but Cole’s trainer, Jack Swagger, would literally throw in the towel for Michael Cole to try and end the match, but Stone Cold Steve Austin would wipe his head with the towel before throwing it back at Swagger! Swagger would then enter the ring and take issue with Austin’s decision and the Special Referee would deliver the Stunner to Swagger! Michael Cole would then get in the face of Austin and would slap the wrist of Austin and asks Austin if Austin has any idea who he is and Austin would shove Cole, allowing Jerry Lawler to get the upper hand! Jerry Lawler, as well as Stone Cold Steve Austin, would enjoy the beating by Lawler and Lawler would even lock in the ankle lock on Cole and, even with Cole tapping for his life, Austin would still question whether or not to call for the bell, but with Cole screaming for the match to end, Austin would finally call for the bell! After the match, Jack Swagger would carry Michael Cole to safety while Stone Cold Steve Austin has a vintage Steveweiser celebration with Jerry “The King” Lawler! Unable to resist a celebration with Stone Cold and Jerry Lawler, Booker T would get up from his seat and would do his signature Spin-a-rooni for the WrestleMania crowd, but Booker would find his celebration cut short as Austin would hit the Stunner on Booker! The celebration would continue between Stone Cold and Jerry Lawler, but the anonymous General Manager of RAW would chime in with a surprising announcement as the GM would rule that Stone Cold overstepped his boundaries as the Special Referee before announcing that the decision is being changed to give Michael Cole the win via disqualification! Upon hearing this, Jerry Lawler would take his aggression out on the man who read the announcement, Josh Mathews, as Lawler would toss Mathews into the ring where Austin would figuratively “kill the messenger” by delivering the Stunner to Josh Mathews before an angry Stone Cold would drive off on his four-wheeler! Then it was time for the match that the wrestling world has been waiting for as the two remaining outlaws in the WWE would go head-to-head as, in an epic No Holds Barred match, “The Game” Triple H would do whatever it takes to end the undefeated WrestleMania streak as Triple H would go one-on-one with The Undertaker! Early on in the No Holds Barred match, the bout would spill to the outside where The Undertaker would send Triple H into the steel ring steps before Undertaker would take apart the Spanish announce table, but this would give Triple H time to recover as “The Game” would send Undertaker crashing through the “Coe Mine” at ringside before the two legends would take the action back into the ring! However, both men would prove that no ring could contain their epic showdown, Triple H and The Undertaker would take the fight to the outside of the ring once again as Triple H would send The Undertaker sailing into the ringside barricade before “The Cerebral Assassin” would disassemble the announce table, but when Triple H would set up for the Pedigree through the announce table, Undertaker would counter and would look ready to deliver the chokeslam to Triple H through the announce table, but “The Game” would deliver a kick to Undertaker, but Undertaker would fire back with a big back body drop from the top of the announce table to the arena floor! The Undertaker would then head back into the ring, but when Triple H would finally get to his feet, Undertaker would put it all on the line as “The Phenom” would dive to the outside, colliding with Triple H on the outside! Undertaker would then drag Triple H to the steel ring steps where Undertaker would look to deliver the Tombstone Piledriver to “The Game”, but Triple H would get out of the move and, when The Undertaker would run at Triple H, “The Game” would catch The Undertaker and deliver a vicious spinebuster to “The Phenom” through the announce table! The match would then resume in the ring as, despite being driven through the announce table with a spinebuster, The Undertaker would manage to deliver a chokeslam to Triple H, but Triple H would kick out as the match would continue! Shortly after this, Triple H would head to the outside and would grab a steel chair, but when “The Game” would go to use the chair on The Undertaker, Undertaker would deliver a big boot to Triple H before Undertaker would blast Triple H with a chair shot to the back! The Undertaker would wind up for a second chair shot, but Triple H would counter and would plant Undertaker with the Pedigree, only for The Undertaker to kick out! Shortly after this, Undertaker would regain control of the match as “The Phenom” would hit the Last Ride on Triple H, but Triple H would kick out! The Undertaker would then set up for and deliver the Tombstone Piledriver to Triple H, but, somehow, “The Game” would kick out again! After Triple H kicked out of the Tombstone Piledriver, The Undertaker would set his sights on the steel chair still in the ring as Undertaker would set up for the Tombstone Piledriver on the chair, but Triple H would counter the Tombstone into a DDT onto the steel chair! Both men would then use the ropes to pull themselves back to their feet and Triple H would hook up the Pedigree and plant The Undertaker with the move, only for The Undertaker to kick out yet again! Triple H would then deliver his third Pedigree of the match to The Undertaker, but “The Phenom” would refuse to let the streak die as Undertaker would kick out again! Much like The Undertaker did earlier, Triple H would set his sights on the steel chair lying in the ring as “The Game” would pummel Undertaker with countless chair shots to the back! Somehow, The Undertaker would use the ropes to pull himself to his feet, but as soon as Undertaker was on his feet, Triple H would blast Undertaker with a steel chair shot to the skull of “The Deadman”! Despite multiple chair shots to the back and one vicious chair shot to the skull, The Undertaker would struggle to recover as Triple H would shout at Undertaker to “stay down” and “just die”, but Undertaker would grab Triple H by the throat, but “The Game” would shove Undertaker back into the corner and would mock the cut throat sign of The Undertaker before delivering his own Tombstone Piledriver to The Undertaker, only for The Undertaker to kick out once again, leaving Triple H in a state of shock and disbelief! Having exalted all his other options, Triple H would head to the outside of the ring where “The Game” would pull his signature sledgehammer out from under the ring and, after pulling Undertaker to the center of the ring, Triple H looked set on using the sledgehammer, but Undertaker would come out of nowhere and lock in Hell’s Gate on “The Game”! Triple H would struggle, pull, and fight to try and get out of Hell’s Gate, even briefly grasping the sledgehammer, but The Undertaker would continue to strain and choke Triple H with the submission until Triple H had no choice but to weakly tap out, earning The Undertaker the hardest fought victory of his career and making “The Last Outlaw” 19-0 at WrestleMania! After the most valiant effort of his career, Triple H would finally get to his feet first as The Undertaker would struggle to do the same! Triple H would slowly exit the ring first before standing by to watch The Undertaker’s slow and painful exit from the ring as Undertaker would make it to the apron of the ring, but when Undertaker would try to stand on his own two feet, Undertaker would fall face-first onto the arena floor, which would emit concern from Triple H! The Undertaker would then try and pull himself up by the apron of the ring, but would completely collapse again, prompting an EMT to call for assistance as additional EMT’s drive to ringside with a back mat ready as EMT’s load the out-of-it Undertaker onto the back of the cart and drive “The Phenom” up the ramp and out of the arena! After the hardest fought win of his career, has The Undertaker finally taken more punishment than he can handle? Will we ever see The Undertaker again? Then it was time for the most talked about match in entertainment as Jersey Shore superstar Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi would team with Tough Enough trainer and WWE Legend Trish Stratus and “The Prince of Parkour” John Morrison, the self-dubbed Brunette Mafia, to face the team of LayCool & Dolph Ziggler, with Vickie Guerrero in their corner, in a 6-Person Mixed Tag Match! During the match, Trish Stratus would tag Snooki into the match and, in a surprising display of athleticism, Snooki would deliver a cartwheel elbow into the corner before delivering a cartwheel into a splash on Michelle McCool en route to picking up the win for her team! With a Georgia Dome attendance record of 71, 617 fans, it was time for the main event of WrestleMania XXVII as, with his associate, Alex Riley, in his corner, The Miz would arrive in the Georgia Dome in grand fashion to defend the WWE Championship against a Superstar very familiar with being in the main event of WrestleMania in John Cena! During the match, the opportunistic Miz would look to expose the steel turnbuckle, but the referee would catch Miz in his devious act, but while the referee was putting the protective padding back on the exposed turnbuckle, John Cena would catch Miz with an inside cradle, but the delay from the referee would allow Miz the time needed to kick out! With Alex Riley quickly snatching the turnbuckle pad out of the ring, it would lead to Riley bouncing Cena’s skull off of the steel turnbuckle, which would allow The Miz to hit the Skull Crushing Finale on Cena, but Cena would kick out! Shortly after this, the referee would get inadvertently knocked down, which would allow Alex Riley to enter the ring and blast John Cena with his briefcase, but Cena would still kick out! With the referee distracted by Alex Riley, The Miz would look to blast Cena with the briefcase a second time, but Cena would dodge the shot and Miz would inadvertently take out Alex Riley with the briefcase, which would allow John Cena to hit the Attitude Adjustment on The Miz, but Miz would manage to kick out of the pin! The match would then spill to the outside of the ring where Cena would take a three-point stance and send Miz over the ringside barricade onto the concrete floor and, upon Miz recovering, Cena would run at Miz again, this time tackling The Miz off of the top of the ringside barricade, sending both men crashing to the concrete floor! With neither champion nor challenger showing much, if any, movement, the referee would reach his ten count, resulting in the match being ruled a Draw, meaning that The Miz retains the WWE Title! After the match was over, the familiar music of the WrestleMania Host would blare throughout the Georgia Dome as The Rock would arrive on the scene, but before The Rock could speak a word, the anonymous General Manager of RAW would chime in with an email and The Rock would opt to read the announcement, but coming across the GM getting ready to say that he “thinks”, The Rock would proclaim that it “doesn’t matter” what the GM “thinks”! The Rock would then get back in the ring and proclaim that there is “no way that WrestleMania is over” and orders the WWE Title match to restart “right now” with no disqualifications and no count-outs before proclaiming that it is “time to give the people what they want”! Per the orders of WrestleMania Host The Rock, the WWE Title match would restart with no disqualifications and no count-outs, but as soon as both champion and challenger are back in the ring, The Rock would deliver his payback from RAW as Rock would plant John Cena with the Rock Bottom, which would allow The Miz to pin John Cena to retain the WWE Title as The Rock glares at The Miz! After The Rock delivered the Rock Bottom to John Cena, allowing The Miz to retain the WWE Title, The Rock would lock eyes with the WWE Champion and The Rock would come back into the ring and would deliver right hands to The Miz before The Rock would plant Miz with a spinebuster and would hit the People’s Elbow on the WWE Champion!
