WWE Week In Preview Monday Night RAW CM Punk Vs. John Cena Build To The Royal Rumble WWE Superstars Tyson Kidd Vs. Yoshi Tatsu Friday Night SmackDown Build To The Royal Rumble Biggest Royal Rumble Match in History Taking Place This Year: WWE.com has made the historic announcement that, for the first time in the twenty-four year history of the Royal Rumble, this year’s Royal Rumble Match will feature an unheard of 40 Superstars, making it the biggest Royal Rumble Match in WWE history! Since 1989, the Royal Rumble Match has featured 30 Superstars (with the 1988 event only featuring 20 Superstars), but this year’s Royal Rumble Match will feature the addition of ten Superstars and, with a new Superstar entering every 2 minutes, the minimum time of the Royal Rumble Match will now be 76 minutes, which equals 1 hour and 16 minutes of minimum Rumble time! Just two weeks before the Royal Rumble, which features a new supersized 40-Man Royal Rumble Match, the 921st edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the Verizon Arena in Little Rock, AR. Since being assaulted and, ultimately injured, by CM Punk and the new Nexus three weeks ago, the 2010 Superstar of the Year, John Cena, would return to RAW to go one-on-one with the new leader of The Nexus, “The Straightedge Savior” CM Punk as Cena has vowed to take out the new leader! Also, after last week’s blockbuster announcement that the one and only “Showstopper” Shawn Michaels will be the first inductee into the 2011 WWE Hall of Fame, the second inductee into the Hall of Fame would be announced on RAW! Monday Night RAW (January 17, 2011) Good Week For: CM Punk & The New Nexus (added a new, monstrous member to the group who dominated John Cena) Bad Week For: Randy Orton (was the victim of a 2-on-1 assault by The Miz & Alex Riley) Detailed Results Follow… Before going one-on-one with new Nexus leader CM Punk later on in the night, RAW kicks off with the 2010 Superstar of the Year John Cena as Cena proclaims that it is his first time in a WWE ring in 2011 and he is “ready” before stating that he has his list of “New Year’s Resolutions” to, first, take out the “world’s most deranged psychopath” CM Punk, win the 40-Man Royal Rumble Match, and head to the main event of WrestleMania XXVII to win the WWE Title! Cena then calls CM Punk to the ring, but instead, Cena is greeted by the arrival of WWE Champion The Miz and his “apprentice”, Alex Riley, as the sharp-dressed champion says that no one wants to see Cena compete for the WWE Title at WrestleMania because Cena is “played out” before stating that he is the “most must-see WWE Champion” in history! Miz continues that, since he became champion, the WWE has been “more entertaining” and “more exciting” than it has been in “years”! Miz then tells Cena that the “odds” state that Cena is not going to win the Royal Rumble Match before reminding Cena that this year’s Royal Rumble Match will feature 40 Superstars before reminding the 2008 Royal Rumble winner that the winner of the Rumble will get the opportunity to main event WrestleMania with a shot at either the WWE or World Heavyweight Title! Miz then warns the winner of the Royal Rumble Match to not come after him and his WWE Title or they will “suffer the same fate” as Randy Orton will in two weeks’ time at the Royal Rumble by proclaiming that “you will lose”! Cena then mocks the WWE Champion before stating that Miz should have already lost the title twice as, had it not been for Michael Cole, Miz would have lost the WWE Title to Jerry “The King” Lawler last month and, had it not been for Alex Riley, Miz would have lost the WWE Title to Randy Orton at WWE TLC! Cena then sizes up the group and calls them a “more feminine version of the Kardashian sisters” before calling Alex Riley a “chicken McNugget who carries a choo-choo train in a briefcase” and saying that Michael Cole has the “street cred of the Jonas Brothers” and the “only challenging bout” that The Miz has had recently is with “irritable bowel syndrome”! Miz then calls Cena “corny” before saying that Cena is “generic” before proclaiming that there is “no doubt” that he can fight with the “best brawlers in WWE history” and that everyone knows it before proclaiming that he can “outwrestle the so-called greatest technicians in WWE history” and saying that everyone knows that as well before vowing to “destroy” Randy Orton! Cena then states that, when he thinks of WrestleMania, he thinks of Randy Orton Vs. John Cena for the WWE Title before stating that Miz will “not make it past” the Royal Rumble as the WWE Champion before saying that, if Miz disagrees, he “must see” Miz do something about it! The face-off is then interrupted by the arrival of the new Nexus leader CM Punk and the new Nexus, David Otunga, Husky Harris, & Michael McGillicutty as Punk states that The Miz is the WWE Champion and John Cena is not before saying that Cena will not be the WWE Champion because Cena will not make it through the new 40-Man Royal Rumble Match before revealing that he and every member of the new Nexus will be a part of the Rumble Match before also stating that the objective for the new Nexus will be to ensure that CM Punk wins the Royal Rumble Match! Punk then states that, with that, Cena’s odds of winning go from “slim” to a “big, fat zero” before saying that he can not “wait” to see those “odds” before sending the three members of the new Nexus! David Otunga, Husky Harris, & Michael McGillicutty then brawl with Cena until the WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov rush out and even the odds before sending the members of the new Nexus packing! The new Nexus would then regroup on the stage before Punk and the new Nexus march towards the ring, but the anonymous General Manager of RAW chimes in with an email that announces that, when Cena goes one-on-one with CM Punk later on in the night, the members of The Nexus will be banned from ringside and, if The Nexus goes against the ban, they will be taken out of the Royal Rumble Match! Will the match between John Cena and CM Punk truly go off without a hitch or will The Nexus sacrifice their spots in the 40-Man Royal Rumble Match in order to protect their leader? After having their title defense postponed via an attack by The Nexus last week, WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov, with Tamina in their corner, would defend the WWE Tag Team Titles against the team that defeated the champions two weeks ago, Jimmy & Jey Uso! In the end, it was Santino Marella hitting the Cobra Strike on Jimmy Uso en route to pinning Uso to successfully retain the WWE Tag Team Titles! Which tag team will be the next to step up and challenge the WWE Tag Team Champions? Backstage, CM Punk confronts a bickering Nexus as Punk gets a big smile on his face and simply says “faith”! What does CM Punk mean by “faith”? Does CM Punk have some sort of plan to defeat John Cena without the help of The Nexus? After picking up an impressive win over King Sheamus on last week’s RAW, “The Prince of Parkour” John Morrison would go one-on-one with United States Champion Daniel Bryan, with The Bella Twins in his corner, in a non-title match! At the end of a competitive match, it was John Morrison landing a knee to the face on Daniel Bryan en route to pinning the United States Champion for the win! After the match, John Morrison would help Daniel Bryan to his feet as the two would then shake hands before the 2010 King of the Ring, King Sheamus, comes out and states that he took Morrison from “mediocrity” and made him what he is today before vowing to win the 40-Man Royal Rumble Match and eliminate both John Morrison and Daniel Bryan on the way to achieving that feat before proclaiming “long live the king”! King Sheamus has announced that he will be one of the 40 Superstars taking part in the biggest Royal Rumble Match in history, but can the 2010 King of the Ring win the 2011 Royal Rumble Match? Backstage, The Bella Twins are discussing the handsomeness of John Morrison before Brie Bella brings up Daniel Bryan and Nikki Bella states that she is trying her hardest to become Bryan’s “first” and Brie states that the only way that will happen will be if Bryan thinks that Nikki is Brie before the two Bellas agree to a “wager” and states let the “best Bella win”! Which Bella will win the affection of Daniel Bryan? Two weeks before they challenge for the WWE and World Heavyweight Titles, respectively, at the Royal Rumble, #1 Contenders would face off as the #1 Contender for the WWE Title, Randy Orton, would go one-on-one with the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Dolph Ziggler, with Dolph’s girlfriend Vickie Guerrero in his corner! At the end of a hard-fought match, Dolph Ziggler would go for the Zig Zag, but Randy Orton would come out of nowhere and counter with the RKO en route to picking up the win! After the match, WWE Champion The Miz and his “apprentice” Alex Riley would rush the ring and attack Randy Orton, sending Orton to the outside before throwing Orton into the steel steps! Miz would then strip the announce table, but Jerry “The King” Lawler would get up from his post and deliver a right hand to Alex Riley before Miz would come from behind and send the Hall of Famer over the ringside barricade! The two-on-one assault would then continue as Miz would send Orton spine-first into the steel ring post before Miz & Riley would send Orton crashing through the ringside barricade! Just two weeks before he is scheduled to challenge The Miz for the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble, what is the status of Randy Orton following this heinous attack by The Miz & Alex Riley? With the #1 Contender for the Divas Title, Melina, as well as Eve Torres, as guests on commentary, the Divas Champion Natalya would go one-on-one with former Divas Champion Maryse in a non-title match! In the end, it was Natalya locking in the Sharpshooter on Maryse, forcing Maryse to tap out to win the match! After the match, Maryse would shout at Michael Cole about her loss before Eve Torres would get up and shove Maryse before walking off! Maryse’s boyfriend, Ted DiBiase, would then try and talk to Maryse, but Maryse would shout that it is DiBiase’s fault she did not win and DiBiase has no chance of winning the Royal Rumble Match! Ted DiBiase would then respond to the lack of faith shown by Maryse and the WWE fans by laying out an open Over-The-Top Rope Challenge with the challenge being answered by “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry! Mark Henry would be able to throw Ted DiBiase over the top rope with ease to win the challenge, but Yoshi Tatsu, Tyson Kidd, and William Regal would come out and attack Henry with Henry throwing Tatsu over the top as a brawl also involving Primo, Zack Ryder, Darren Young, David Hart Smith, & R-Truth! In a small preview of the Royal Rumble Match, William Regal would be sent over the top rope by R-Truth, Primo and Tyson Kidd would eliminate each other, and as Henry was readying himself to eliminate Ryder, but King Sheamus would come out and send all of the competitors over the top rope except for Mark Henry as Henry would deliver a belly-to-belly slam to Sheamus over the top rope to the outside! “The Mexican Elitist” Alberto Del Rio then rolls into the arena and once again proclaims that it is his “destiny” to win the Royal Rumble Match, headline WrestleMania, become champion, and become “the greatest of the great”! Can Alberto Del Rio survive 39 other Superstars in his first Royal Rumble Match to win the entire match and headline WrestleMania? It was announced on RAW that next week’s RAW will feature a blockbuster main event as, just six nights before they defend their titles at the Royal Rumble, it will be Champion Vs. Champion as the World Heavyweight Champion Edge goes one-on-one with the WWE Champion The Miz! Which champion will prove to be better on next week’s RAW? Then it was time for the main event as, with The New Nexus banned from ringside, the 2010 Superstar of the Year John Cena would go one-on-one with the leader of The New Nexus, CM Punk! During the match, both Superstars would be down in the ring, when a monster of a man would emerge from the crowd and knock down a security guard before getting on the ring apron, which would distract John Cena long enough for CM Punk to knock Cena down! Punk would then outstretch his arms and close his eyes as Punk would willingly take a vicious big boot from the mystery monster before the big man would pick Cena up and would deliver a vicious one-armed side slam to Cena! The New Nexus would then rush out and would look ready to fight the big man, but Punk would stop his followers from attacking as the big man would kneel down to one knee and stick out his arm, allowing Punk to place the armband of The New Nexus on the large arm of the big man, making the monster a part of the group as CM Punk and all four of his followes would stand tall together in the center of the ring! Who is this monstrous new addition to The New Nexus? What does this mean for John Cena, as well as Cena’s chances in the 40-Man Royal Rumble Match? The 92nd edition of WWE Superstars came to you from the Verizon Arena in Little Rock, AR and from the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK. After leading his team to a big 8-Man Tag Team victory on last week’s WWE Superstars, Yoshi Tatsu would go one-on-one with “The Crowned Prince” Tyson Kidd just ten nights before both Superstars are part of the huge 40-Man Royal Rumble Match! WWE Superstars (January 20, 2011) Good Week For: Yoshi Tatsu (would come out of nowhere to pick up the win over Tyson Kidd in the main event) Bad Week For: Tyson Kidd (got caught with a roll-up by Yoshi Tatsu in a losing effort in the main event) Detailed Results Follow… The show kicks off with action from the SmackDown Superstars as “The Brooklyn Baller” JTG would go one-on-one with “The Mexican Warrior” Chavo Guerrero! In the end, it was JTG hitting the Shout Out en route to picking up the win! With the huge 40-Man Royal Rumble Match quickly approaching, how will JTG fare in the match? Increasingly familiar rivals would then face off as “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters would go one-on-one with “The Party Starter” Curt Hawkins! In the end, it was Chris Masters locking in the Masterlock on Curt Hawkins, forcing Hawkins to submit to pick up the win! Four of the 40 Superstars taking part in the Royal Rumble Match in ten nights’ time were in tag team action on WWE Superstars as “The Bulldog” David Hart Smith would team with Darren Young to face the team of Primo and “The Long Island Iced Z” Zack Ryder! At the end of a chaotic tag match, it was Zack Ryder coming out of nowhere to hit the Rough Ryder Leg Lariat on Darren Young en route to picking up the win for himself and Primo! Then it was time for the main event as two more participants in the huge 40-Man Royal Rumble Match would square off as Yoshi Tatsu would go one-on-one with “The Crowned Prince” Tyson Kidd! At the end of a punishing match for Yoshi Tatsu, Tatsu would come out of nowhere with a roll-up on Tyson Kidd to pick up the win! Nine nights before the Royal Rumble, the 596th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK. One week after being assaulted by the #1 Contender for his World Heavyweight Title at the Royal Rumble, Dolph Ziggler, who delivered the Zig Zag on the steel steps to the champion, World Heavyweight Champion Edge would appear on SmackDown to respond to the attack! Also, one week after leading an attack to dismantle “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show, Wade Barrett and his new group of Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, & Ezekiel Jackson would appear on SmackDown! Friday Night SmackDown (January 21, 2011) Good Week For: Dolph Ziggler (was able to sit back and watch The Corre pick apart Edge) Bad Week For: Theodore Long (in an apparent assault by unknown assailants, was left unconscious before being hauled off to a local hospital) Detailed Results Follow… One week after systematically dismantling “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show, SmackDown kicks off with Wade Barrett and his new group of Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, & Ezekiel Jackson! Barrett starts off by proudly proclaiming that Big Show will not be a part of the show, so he decided to take the time to “introduce” himself and his new group! Barrett introduces himself and states that he “assisted in revolutionizing Monday Night RAW” as the leader of The Nexus until he was “dismissed” from the group before stating that The Nexus should have never been just about him and it should have been about the entire group! Barrett then states that his new group will be just that and that they will be known as “The Corre”! The powerhouse of the group, Ezekiel Jackson, then introduces himself and states that he is “proud” to be a member of The Corre! Heath Slater then introduces himself and states that one of the reasons that The Nexus was so “dominant” was because of him before stating that the fans have not seen anything yet! Justin Gabriel then introduces himself and calls SmackDown his “home” and The Corre his “family”! Corre leader Wade Barrett then proclaims that what The Nexus has done on RAW will “pale in comparison” to what The Corre has in store for SmackDown! Barrett is then interrupted by the arrival of SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long, who states that he is not “naïve” before sternly telling the group that he is the General Manager of SmackDown and that means he is in “charge” before saying that, if the group starts “playing outside the rules”, then they have got a “problem”! Barrett then states that they know who Long is and they “respect” him as an authority figure before stating that they thought that Long would be “happy” to see them there because they will be representing SmackDown in the 40-Man Royal Rumble Match and it is because they want to work “with” Theodore Long and not “against” him before stating that the GM could make history by being the GM of SmackDown who presided over SmackDown as a part of The Corre! Long then states that he does not “believe” what Barrett is talking about and states that he is not going to stand by and let Barrett “lead” that group! Barrett then interrupts and states that there is “no leader” of the group, they are all “equals”! Long then states that he is not an “anonymous General Manager” and he is not some “chirping computer” before stating that Barrett will not “bring that” to SmackDown before stating that last week, they came together for the “first time” to dismantle Big Show, but if they do something like that again, it will be their “last time”! Ezekiel Jackson then states that they are “extremely disappointed” Long did not accept them as The Corre could take SmackDown to “another level”! Long then gives The Corre the ultimatum to either “like SmackDown” and follow the “rules” or they can “leave SmackDown”! The GM would then make his exit before “The Mexican Elitist” Alberto Del Rio would make his entrance and introduces himself to The Corre before saying that The Corre needs to realize that SmackDown is his show and it is his “destiny” to win the 40-Man Royal Rumble Match! How will The Corre respond to the ultimatum given to them by SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long? After telling The Corre that it is his “destiny” to win the 40-Man Royal Rumble Match in nine nights, “The Mexican Elitist” Alberto Del Rio would face a familiar adversary in fellow Royal Rumble participant R-Truth! In the middle of the match, the cameras cut to the backstage area where doctors rush to the office of Theodore Long where Dolph Ziggler, Vickie Guerrero, and former Nexus member Michael Tarver is at the side of an unconscious Theodore Long as the doctors check the pulse of the GM and call for paramedics! What is the status of Theodore Long? Is this a result of the ultimatum Theodore Long gave to The Corre? Unaware of the unresponsive state of SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long, the match between Royal Rumble participants Alberto Del Rio and R-Truth would continue as the paramedics load the still unconscious Theodore Long onto a stretcher and wheel the GM out of the office! Meanwhile, the match in the ring continued as Alberto Del Rio’s personal ring announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, would distract R-Truth long enough for Del Rio to lock in the cross armbreaker, forcing Truth to tap out to pick up the win! Is it truly Alberto Del Rio’s “destiny” to win the 40-Man Royal Rumble Match? Backstage, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long is loaded into an ambulance before the ambulance departs the arena! With a history of heart problems, what is the status of Theodore Long? What does The Corre have to do with it, if anything? Backstage, the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Dolph Ziggler, and the now acting General Manager Vickie Guerrero return to their locker room to discover The Corre waiting for them as Justin Gabriel states that they had “nothing to do” with Theodore Long’s “head trauma” before Wade Barrett states that they are there if Vickie needs them! Vickie then jumps on the opportunity by informing The Corre that one of them will go one-on-one with World Heavyweight Champion Edge and that she hopes to see The Corre “live up” to their reputation! With Vickie Guerrero in charge of SmackDown, what does The Corre have in store for Edge? The Divas were in action on SmackDown as one-half of the Slammy Award winning LayCool, Layla, with Michelle McCool in her corner, would go one-on-one with “The Glamazon” Beth Phoenix! In the end, it was Beth Phoenix hitting the Glam Slam on Layla en route to picking up the win! Nine nights before they are two of the 40 participants in the 40-Man Royal Rumble Match, the winner of the 2006 Royal Rumble, Rey Mysterio, would go one-on-one with “Dashing” Cody Rhodes! In the end, it was Rey Mysterio hitting the 619, and inadvertently hitting “Dashing” Cody Rhodes in his face with his metal knee brace, and following it up with the splash en route to picking up the win! Backstage, SmackDown interviewer Todd Grisham was set to deliver an update on Theodore Long when Alex Riley interrupts and tells Grisham they should talk about people who “matter” like WWE Champion The Miz, who states that he can do “whatever” he wants and, after what he did to Randy Orton on RAW, he has to “share it” with everyone on SmackDown! Backstage, a WWE doctor is checking on “Dashing” Cody Rhodes and informs Rhodes that his nose has been broken! How will this injury affect the looks-obsessed “Dashing” Cody Rhodes? Then it was time for a special Amateur Wrestling Challenge as “The All-American American” Jack Swagger would face Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston in his specialty in a challenge where whoever gets the most points for takedowns and escapes would win the challenge! In the end, it was Jack Swagger scoring ten points to Kofi Kingston’s nine points to win the Amateur Wrestling Challenge! After the challenge, Swagger would attack Kofi, but the Intercontinental Champion would battle back and hit the Trouble in Paradise and a crossbody on Swagger! One week after picking up an upset victory over Drew McIntyre, the rematch would take place on SmackDown as “The Dude Buster” Trent Barreta would go one-on-one with “The Chosen One” Drew McIntyre! In the end, it was Drew McIntyre hitting a double underhook suplex off of the top rope en route to picking up the win over Trent Barreta! After the match, Drew McIntyre would extend his hand to Trent Barreta, but Barreta would attack McIntyre, prompting McIntyre to fight back, but as McIntyre was set to deliver the Future Shock DDT to Barreta, Kelly Kelly would come out and stop the attack before tending to Trent Barreta, prompting McIntyre to angrily exit the ring! Four nights after he and Alex Riley assaulted and left #1 Contender Randy Orton laid out on RAW, WWE Champion The Miz and his “apprentice”, Alex Riley, would make a special appearance on SmackDown as Miz would proclaim that “awesome is as awesome does” and he proved it by assaulting Randy Orton! The WWE Champion would then be interrupted by the World Heavyweight Champion, Edge, who calls Miz a “RAW reject” and states that what he did to Randy Orton came after a match with Dolph Ziggler! Miz then tells Edge that what he did to Randy Orton is “nothing” compared to what he will do to Edge on RAW! Edge responds by saying he will “deal” with The Miz on RAW, but he has plenty to worry about with Wade Barrett and The Corre before telling Miz to “get out” of his ring! The Miz would then exit the ring, but Miz’s “apprentice” Alex Riley would have second thoughts and would confront Edge only to be laid out with the Spear! The Miz would then get on the ring apron, but would opt to avoid a confrontation with Edge! What will happen this coming Monday night on RAW when World Heavyweight Champion Edge faces WWE Champion The Miz in a Champion Vs. Champion Match? After delivering the Spear to Alex Riley and sending WWE Champion The Miz packing, World Heavyweight Champion Edge, by the orders of acting General Manager Vickie Guerrero, would go one-on-one with one of the members of The Corre, but before the match begins, acting General Manager Vickie Guerrero comes out to present a special guest commentator for the match, none other than the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title and Vickie’s boyfriend, Dolph Ziggler! It is then decided amongst the members of The Corre that Justin Gabriel will be the one to go one-on-one with World Heavyweight Champion Edge! In the end, it was interference from The Corre that would distract the referee long enough for Ezekiel Jackson to blast Edge with a clothesline, allowing Justin Gabriel to pin the World Heavyweight Champion to pick up the win! After the match, the four members of The Corre would enter the ring and surround Edge and, realizing what awaited him, Edge would fight back against The Corre, but Ezekiel Jackson would knock down Edge, allowing The Corre to assault Edge as Heath Slater would hit his modified neckbreaker on Edge, followed by Wade Barrett hitting the Wasteland, and, finally, Justin Gabriel hitting the 450 Splash on the World Heavyweight Champion! The Corre would then exit the ring as Dolph Ziggler would enter the ring and place his foot on the chest of Edge in a sign of victory and dominance! What is the status of Edge following this attack by The Corre? With only nine nights before the Royal Rumble, has Dolph Ziggler secured his spot as World Heavyweight Champion?
